Located in Edinburgh, this restaurant has a beautiful interior and a great ambience, perfect for enjoying a few drinks and just chilling. While the menu may not be the most impressive and the prices are a bit high, the music and overall atmosphere help elevate the experience. However, some customers have had negative experiences, with complaints about staff behavior and food quality. Despite mixed reviews, many appreciate the cozy atmosphere, friendly staff, and unique decorations. Overall, it seems like a place worth trying at least once, especially for the variety of drinks and the cozy environment.

What Amy White dislikes about Dirty Dick's:
What a beautiful place. Great interiors, good ambience, lovely music and it stops there. The staff are quite (i am confused), the menu isn't so wow and the place is quite expensive. It good for a few drinks and sit around and just chill. The music and ambience elevate the place. Worth the one visit but would keep the check through.. View all feedback.
My plans fell through on Saturday night, so we decided to visit Dirty Dicks instead. We haven't been in a while, usually just popping in during the day on weekends, but as always, we were not disappointed. Dirty Dicks is a charming and quirky pub with candles on every table, giving it a nostalgic feel with memorabilia scattered throughout. Nestled away on Rose Street, it feels like a hidden gem in Edinburgh - not pretentious, but full of character. Despite being busy, we were able to snag a cozy table in the corner, perfect for a date night. We ordered some appetizers, which were generously portioned and perfect for sharing. It was a lovely evening, and I highly recommend this authentic Edinburgh pub! X
Unfortunately, DDs did not live up to hype. The atmosphere was nice enough fairly standard and the background music was cool (assuming you are a blues fan). However, the food was mixed. My meal was good, but my wife's was not. She had the nachos and the serving was a bit stingy. Still an okay place to go, but I don't see it as sitting above the pack.
What a great spot for casual drinks or a bit of grub. It’s off the beaten track, but totally worth it. The food was epic and the drink selection was spot on! We were lucky to get a table as it was really busy when we arrived, but the people in the pub were also so friendly and we also offered for other customers to perch on the end of our table to save them going elsewhere! We met a couple who were on their travels from America (Fort Lauderdale) and they loved the place too! The decor is eclectic and really interesting to look at too.
Dirty Dick 's is a great bar along the ever popular Rose Street. Currently their social media profile says: Whisky and gin galore! Classy Scottish grub, craft beer, clutter, antiquary, and great tunes. And, yes, that 's what you 're going to find here. Also, they 're dog friendly, family friendly, vegan friendly if you need a bite; they 're just all around friendly. As you can imagine, all of this as well as being in a touristy area makes it almost always busy. Not sure what to order? They 've got beer on draught, 250+ single malts, whisky flights for both the novice and experienced, and if you don 't know just ask. I did. I wanted something from the Highlands that had notes of toffee. The bartender passed me over to the owner who made a suggestion and encouraged me to try it before committing. But it was exactly what I was looking for (and I have no idea what it was)! Cheers, Dirty Dick 's!
I loved Dirty Dick 's from the first visit. I ended up returning a few times, during the several months I was in Scotland. I 've tried quite a few things on the menu, including the Dirty Fries (haggis on chips) and it was great. In fact, all of the food we tried was great. The staff was also really friendly. Each time we came in, we ended up having a good chat with our server, and a few laughs with the bar mate. The atmosphere was the real winner here. It 's dark and red, with interesting conversation pieces hanging everywhere. It has a speak-easy kind of vibe. When I brought my 5 year old in, I was surprised at how child-friendly they were. In fact, several times, we came in and there were families eating here. It 's rare to find a place you could bring a date, a mate, or your kids!
