Nestled near Ocean Terminal, Alby's is a cozy spot specializing in creatively crafted sandwiches that are anything but ordinary. With a rotating menu featuring just a handful of options, including a reliable vegan pick, every visit offers a chance to discover something new. Diners rave about the generous portions served on freshly baked focaccia, making each sandwich a delightful challenge to tackle. While gluten-free options are limited, the vibrant atmosphere, attentive service, and quality ingredients ensure a satisfying experience. Booking ahead is highly recommended for weekend visits, as this small eatery quickly fills up with fans eager to savor their next fix.

There are no gluten-free options available at this restaurant. They suggest bringing your own bread if needed. Just a heads up for anyone considering dining here.

I ordered the vegan option which was beetroot fritter and chana masala. The focaccia bread was delicious, with a lemony dill filling that was so tasty. I also enjoyed the side of Korean spicy celeriac. The restaurant really knows how to blend flavors. There is usually only one vegan option available at a time.

Big bad bouncing buns. Actually it’s more like a huge slice of focaccia, split in half and loaded up. The menu changes every couple of weeks and features one vegan and one vegetarian option there’s only four sandwiches on the menu at any one time. There’s normally a couple of vegan sides too a salad and something fried. Service is excellent. Booking is essential if you want to go at the weekend. There’s an impressive stack of cookbooks behind the counter, acting as a kind of warning. These are serious sandwiches. You will need napkins.

Delightful! It’s a smaller menu, with 4 sandwich options (including vegetarian and vegan options! , but the sandwiches were incredible. The foccacia is light and airy, and the grilled courgette, whipped feta, and rocket sandwich (and another ingredient I’m forgetting was perfect after the Water of Leith walk. Would recommend! Service: Dine in Meal type: Lunch Price per person: £10–20

Very little sandwich content. Basically just huge slices of bread, no fillings. Total rip off!! I do not recommend. Food: 1 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 1 Meal type: Lunch
