Contribute FeedbackThe Flying Dog offers a mixed experience. Some feel the hot dogs are overpriced and lacking in quality, while others praise the unique flavors and friendly service. The atmosphere is described as lacking, but the concept of the restaurant is appreciated. Customers highlight the tasty food, good value for money, and welcoming environment for dog owners. The menu is limited but delivers delicious, simple dishes. Overall, The Flying Dog is recommended for those seeking affordable, tasty food and a laid-back atmosphere.
I had such a great experience at The Flying Dog! I absolutely love their food and drink options. The chef was so accommodating and added extra toppings to my bacon and cheese burger, which is my favorite with extra cheese and mayo. The onion rings are homemade and deliciously huge. They have a great selection of bottled beers too. I can't wait to go back and try their hot dogs. Great job to the team at The Flying Dog!
We were tired, wet, and very hungry as we passed by The Flying Dog and decided to stop in for dinner. It turned out to be a great choice. Although the menu is limited to specialty burgers and hot dogs, don't let that deter you. The taste sensations we experienced from such simple ingredients were incredible (the Chipotle mayo was especially delicious). The atmosphere was lovely, the staff friendly and the service excellent with everything cooked fresh. Treat yourself to a reasonably priced meal and visit The Flying Dog.
I don't know why i haven't reviewed the Flying Dog yet, I don't know why its not busier than it is. It is inexpensive, the hotdogs are awesome, there is a decent selection of craft beers both local and American imports and there is the cheesecake of the week as well. They also serve a selection of Scandinavian style open sandwiches. I've been in 3 or 4 times now and would highly recommend this to anyone
Decent burgers to take away but calling their hot dogs gourmet is more than a stretch. Having been happy with a delivered burger a few weeks prior, we popped in on our lunch break to try their hot dogs. It took 40mins to bring 2 basic hot dogs that were charged almost 6£ each. The bread was cold from the fridge, the sausage was clearly frozen and nothing remarkable about it. Honestly you get the same level of quality at Ikea for a pound. Chips were basic (frozen too), only the onion rings were worth the money and looked home made. The service was very friendly but we won 't be going back.
If I am willing to walk from the Old Town down to Leith and back during my lunch break, you know a place is good. I made the journey and tried The Flying Dog (a hotdog topped with chili, cheese, and jalapeños), with added Louisiana Hot Sauce, fries, and the Flying Dog Doggie Style Pale Ale. For a place like this to succeed, the quality of the hotdog itself needs to be top-notch. These hotdogs are large and have a high pork content, which is a detail that counts. There are a variety of hotdog options, homemade soup, and Smørrebrød (Danish style open sandwiches) available. The restaurant is cozy with a classic American feel, but it is tastefully understated. The owners and staff are friendly, and the restaurant frequently hosts music events.
