we visited cellar door during a weeking in edinburgh and have sampled both her meat and vegetarian six-course taste menu. it was delicious! our waitress nicola told us about each cursor and we enjoyed recommending everyone with the wine tastings. she made the seventh experience even more pleasant. would definitely recommend and return for more. What User doesn't like about The Cellar Door:
I booked in advance as it was festival time and a good job I did as many people were turned away. The staff were pleasant and talkative but overall the service was a bit sluggish. The food was well okay. Nothing special and lacking in a lot of areas primarily flavour. Whilst the presentation was good the contents didn't live up to the image they presented. Even the gaelic coffee wasn't very gaelic and used a very lam... View all feedback.
New cook, creative dishes that are well run with informed attentive service. a beautiful bright room with huge windows, despite in a cellar! taste the venison, the goat cheese bonbons and the beautiful chocolate dessert. recommend them high!

We'll be back.. They are definetely glutton-free friendly. My wife's GF blade of beef was excellent, I had the salmon over potatoes surrounded by a sauce. It was tender, sweet and luscious. They offered beer from a brewery local to Edinburgh (Stewart), which I always prefer to try something new anyway, and the two I tried we're great. The decor underground is singular, in the iron girders protruding from above and the multi-level seating area. Well done !
We ate here for our anniversary and had the chateau briand meal. It was delicious and the service was excellent.
Cellar Door is a lovely restaurant and £9.95 for two courses at lunch is a good deal, but whilst the starters were scrumptious the mains were sadly only satisfactory.
