What philip902 doesn't like about Fieldwork:
This restaurant exudes a hip authenticity that big chains strive for but can't quite achieve. It's clear that it was decorated on a budget, with buffet tables, chairs, naked lightbulbs, and coffee sack drawer fronts. I was charmed by the espresso measures being weighed on small postal scales, and the quirky tap arrangement over the wash basin. We discovered this lovely little place by chance, and what a fortune! Beautiful cakes!!!! and the girls at the super friendly counter! SUBLIME (mega) apricot tartelletta! You will be spoiled for what to choose!
In search of the typical recommended places for breakfast we find this small and cozy coffee in a busy avenue of Edinburgh. At the rate of Morrisey, we enjoy a delicious coffee and homemade cakes in a place where every detail is perfectly cared for, how your vintage mini fork to cut the cake. A perfect place to get into the most authentic Edinburgh.
Walking towards the Old Town we were attracted by this lovely little place and its beautiful pastries in showcase. A really cozy and warm place, the girls at the counter are hugely friendly and helpful. Beautiful sweets, of the best British culture.. And the coffee?! Well, the best surprise for Italians visiting Edinburgh!.. Really good and even better than many improvised in Italy! Recommended, absolutely to try!
The fieldwork was ideal for a short stopover. The small but fine restaurant offered a beautiful selection of deculent and sweet food. We had a Stroboli toast, a sourdough bread with avocado and salad and additionally a cup of mushroom soup. Very delicious! Also coffee and tea were very fine in taste. The ambience is youthful modern and I call it something alternative, but very appealing. The price performance ratio fits well and is definitely recommended not only for students.
This is now my go to coffee shop on the way to work. Great coffee in here, though be mindful it can be busy sometimes so a short wait could be on the cards! The pastry and cakes look good though I've not tried them. I have had the stramboli and it's highly recommended!
