Unfortunatel... read more I'm 73 years old and used to own a family restaurant. I dined at The Lumber Yard tonight and ordered the half portion of their chicken fried steak. Unfortunately, it was the worst I've ever had — it was mostly breading, and I've seen more meat on a single McDonald's burger. I expressed my disappointment to the server, but when I spoke with the manager at checkout, I was told, “Oh, we have good chicken fried steak, stuffed potatoes,” and they had the audacity to call what I received a chicken fried steak. With two drinks, my bill came to almost $29.

The new owners have let... read more We've been frequenting this restaurant for many years, and it used to be one of our favorites. Unfortunately, that's no longer the case. The new owners have let us down. The quality of the food has declined significantly—sometimes we receive undercooked fish and overcooked chicken strips. My husband raised his concerns while paying, and while the staff member apologized, the owner's wife just stood there, clearly ignoring him. This has soured our experience, and we no longer consider this our favorite place to eat. Sadly, we will be looking for alternatives.

I decided to decline the half-off offer and told her to keep it. We ended up paying for both meals entirely. When I mentioned at the register that I wouldn't be returning, her response was, "Glad you told me." So, goodbye, Lumberyard — I won’t be coming back.
