The service was appalling, and neither the manager nor the owner (at that time—I’m not sure if there have been any changes in ownership or management since then) were of any assistance. I had ordered a birthday cake, and not only did the manager forget to place the order, but he also lied multiple times to cover up his error. His excuses included claiming that the "imaginary cake" was still in the back of the store and later that the truck carrying it had broken down, before finally admitting that he had simply forgotten to order it. The baker/decorator confirmed that she had no knowledge of the order and was informed only an hour after I had gone to pick it up, despite the fact that I had placed and paid for the order a week prior. In the end, I received a last-minute, hastily prepared birthday cake three hours later, which I had to return to collect. This was particularly frustrating since the manager had promised to ensure the cake would be delivered to me. They did offer a 10% discount, but this was not a matter of money—it didn’t make up for the inconvenience of driving back and forth and wasting my time that day. Additionally, I was extremely irritated by all the lies and excuses surrounding the cake. It’s far better to acknowledge a mistake and apologize than to fabricate one lie after another to cover it up. **Updated Review (as of November 24, 2018):** The Bread Basket has turned things around under new management. The new owner is a delight and a pleasure to work with! I placed an order for a Bar One cake over the phone, clearly explaining exactly what I wanted. When I arrived to collect the cake on Saturday, I was pleasantly surprised to find it fresh and beautifully decorated. I will gladly revise my rating based on my recent experience at this branch, given the excellent service I received from the new owner/manager and some of the staff who assisted me.
The staff is friendly and the food is hearty and wholesome. I've enjoyed numerous breakfasts and lunches with my extended family here. The coffee is fantastic, and there are plenty of options to choose from at the deli.
The food was decent but nothing extraordinary, and the coffee was quite strong. The carrot cake was acceptable, though the carrots were not grated finely enough. On the positive side, the prices were reasonable.
Yummy food, amazing value for money. Recommend the eggs benedict with crispy parma ham on a ciabata. Staff were lovely and the vibe for sunday breakfast is really chilled.<br/
