What KJ Goldstein doesn't like about Davanni's Pizza Hot Hoagies:
Food is always spot on but hit and miss with quality of customer service. I guess only children work there cause they can never ring up alcohol. I thought it was pretty cool they had a bar there but you have to preorder all your drinks upfront which seems a little silly. They should probably consider charging after the meal like every other bar. View all feedback.
The restaurant appears to be a eat in restaurant with tables but you order the food at the counter and then a person brings you the food. You get your own drinks and refills. We ordered the bacon chicken ranch hoagie. The hoagie was tasty abs filling. We got it with ciabatta bread but the bread was a little less fresh than I like but the flavor was good. We also ordered the works individual sized pizza. The pizza tasted like it was an boxed pizza and nothing to rave about. The workers were very nice so if you want no frills and decent food, this is a potential place to check out. Considering it shares space with a gas station, it surprised me.
This place looked like it was going to hit the spot. Normally I wouldn't necessarily leave a review after only one visit, but since I was visiting and not sure if I am returning. I thought I should. It was not a great first impression the woman who took my order did not really appear to be happy to be there. It's a bit of an overwhelming menu for the first time she did not really want to help with any questions and seemed very put out. Still I ordered a sandwich. It was very good. A little dry but I actually really enjoyed it. I would definitely give this place another shot if I make it back to Minneapolis.
Poor service. They forgot our order and only after we waited and asked they realized they lost it. Do not recommend visiting this location.
I love, love, LOVE the pizza from Davanni 's. It 's been in my top two favorite pizzas in the US for most of the time I 've been wise enough to have compelling opinions about pizza. Only Punch beats it in the Twin Cities. At least half of the people I talk to about Davanni 's think of their awesome hoagies before thinking about their pizza, but I put it to you right here and now that it 's their 'za you should be into. I always get the traditional crust, but the deep dish is also really good. Prices are very reasonable; my solo pizza with one topping today was a hair over six bucks. This particular location was going through a remodel when I was there today, so I suspect that if you decide to eat here based on my adoring recommendation, it will be somehow modernized. I bet that will be nice. I can 't imagine a dining environment that could make it seem like less of a good idea to have some of this world class pizza. Plus also the hoagies are great. Pro-tip: when you receive your amazing pizza it will smell delicious, but it will be too hot to stick in your mouth with the immediacy that will compel you. I wrestle with that dilemma every time I come to Davanni 's, even though I should have definitively learned my lesson by now by way of the blisters on my palate.
Tonight I ordered a medium veggie pizza and a garden salad needless to say I was disappointed and will not order from davanni's again. The pizza was over cooked and the veggies we not fresh.
