Outstanding! We visited once whilst holidaying in Alston and the food was so good we went back for more (not on the sale day . Chips cooked to perfection. The oils the chips are cooked in make all the difference when producing a great chip and clearly they're using a high grade oil. Battered fish was just mouth watering, fish was as soft as cotton wool and the batter just right. Also, excellent value for money, portion sizes were more than ample. A very competitive business so if you're passing through this gorgeous little town then make sure you're hungry and pop in for some excellent food.

Tried on two occasions to phone to place an order (as we had heard good things) first time, was two mins to 7pm, turns out they closed at 7pm and everything was shut down. Second time, line was constantly engaged. When we drove down, they had closed at 6pm. Disappointing.

Whilst the fish was freshly cooked the chips had obviously been stood for a while, were very dry, small and hard. If I had been served this in a restaurant it would have been sent back. Service: Take out Meal type: Dinner Price per person: £1–10
