I cannot thank the staff in the bakery enough! we have booked here for our baby shower and nothing was too much annoying, including catering for a gluten and milk allergy! the afternoon was absolutely tasty with a huge selection of sandwiches, scones and cakes! a brilliant place to visit and we will definitely be back! What PeeweeStairmaster doesn't like about The Old Village Bakery:
Drove out to Melmerby specifically to give this place a try but it really wasn’t worth the effort. Has the feel of a mid-market garden centre catering for OAPs- all plastic tables, laminated menus and overpriced household gifts. Food was average, drinks ok, service a bit meh, particularly from the bearded guy with limited communication skills. First impressions count and based on this one, I wouldn’t hurry back. Excellent afternoon! Many thanks for asking for individual requirements and a special censor for my father who enjoyed his late father day tee. excellent service!
Only for suppe and a sandwich immersed on a very cold afternoon and was tasty before a real fire ... this place is a small jewel in rural cumbria, highly recommended xx
