Returned to the restaurant and impressed with the new layout. Significantly improved. The food was also good, staff were friendly and prices were good. It was easy to get a table and we were very happy with the meal. Highly recommend this new layout. View all feedback.
What Joelle Smitham doesn't like about Zenya Noodle Bar:
This restaurant has been renovated - nicer and brighter. It retained the Japanese menu, alas, the food did not match. I think the owners have changed and it's not very authentic Japanese anymore.Disappointing in terms of taste... a bowl of noodle is between $15 - $20 if you upsize to include salad and gyoza / takoyaki. Sydney weather is starting to cool down, so the cravings for a good ramen are suddenly spiking! We've been wanting to try this place for a while & now that we live closer, we thought it would be a good time to hunt down a local ramen joint. The Spicy Shoyu Ramen was our pick! Broth tasty, noodles on the firmer side, which we prefer. Yes, it's actually spicy, perfect to clear a cold! Happy to say we've found a nice local ramen joint :)
We are unlucky in Eastwood, and Zenya is one of the more of them more of them several dinner. Grief We usually have bentos and ramen. Grief The bentos are on average at his price. Grief For the ramen they cooked the pasta just right. The pork pieces are supple and melting in the mouth. The pork soup (they have chicken trap version, but I'm a pork soup person) is rich, creamy and delicious. Grief Grief My only comment is that the fat content (dissolved in the soup, not floating on the surface) is high. I'm regular in Gumshara, and I found out that although Gumshalara's pork soup (thick version) is thicker than Zenya, the fat content is less than Zenya. I sometimes had a reflux for Zenyas Prok Ramen, but none of Gumshara. Grief The part is decent and good value. Grief Grief It would be nice if Zenya serves all the ramen with red pickled ginger (for the ramen palate, this is a must, because it is that it is that it cleans your taste and feels the greasy mouth).
Zenya is located on Rowe St in Eastwood, Zenya is an old favorite, although I was not for years. The layout has not changed at all. Normally, I get a set menu that includes Mini Ramen, Mini Don, Ice Cream and a Can Drink. While the price has not changed in more than 2 years, I was pretty sure that the set menu previously had an additional salad or Gyorza. The quality of the Ramet and the Don was still good, ice not so much, but still decent overall.
Used to frequent a few years ago weekly Zenya. Went back for the first time for 2 years and I have to say that nothing else has changed, because with the quality of the food is still really good. The Mini Ramen and Mini Don Set is a favorite of me as they can try both popular networks.
We had Cha-Shu Ramen, Donburi and Deluxe Zenya Bento. All dishes were satisfying, but the service here is REALLY slow! We sat down with the menu for over 15 minutes & no one took our order, we had to signal a waitress over. I don't know if it's always this slow, or did I happened to come on a really bad night (Sunday night 9/10/16, not very busy). They actually took 40 minutes to bring out the ramen, then the other dishes about 5 minutes later. ????
