We've been going to Karoo since it was a small restaurant on Commercial Street in P-Town! Then onone visit we stopped by and they were not there! We nearly cried but I decided to look them up on the web to see if they had moved! Yay! They sure did, to a much more spacious establishment in Eastham (sp? What A dislikes about Karoo:
We love the restaurant and the food is wonderful. The managers on duty could have done a better job. They placed us outside in the grass when there were better seats on the deck. After I spoke up, the manager said they could get us bug spray if needed. We had a lovely waitress and the food was amazing. I always enjoy visiting Karoo whenever I'm in the Cape. It's a refreshing change from eating fish all week. The atmosphere is fantastic, and the dishes are delicious and one-of-a-kind. It's really one of the few places to experience African cuisine. I was so disappointed to find out they were closed. I hope they can make a comeback soon!
I'm still dreaming about their lamb stew... mmm... it's so wonderful to have such a delicious and unique dinner choice in the area. I can't wait for their spring reopening!
Karoo is a fantastic restaurant to enjoy a meal. The staff is consistently attentive, and the quality of the food is always top-notch. The bar area has a warm and welcoming atmosphere (pre-covid), and their mixed drinks are always spot-on. The owner is dedicated to ensuring that every guest has a wonderful dining experience at reasonable prices.
Karoo didn't make me feel difficult as a vegan. The vegan options were clearly labeled and delicious. We had the Vegan Bunny and Cape Malay Stew with Tofu and were very happy with our choices. They even had a lovely vegan dessert. Will definitely go back when visiting the Cape. Thank you for the vegan options, please continue to add more!
Damned good food and dessert (2016). The chef was delightful and made the rounds to make sure everyone was happy.
