Ciao Baby - East Massapequa

The food was bad. The pasta was uncooked to the point it couldn 't be cut with a knife. Manager was unhelpful he said that it was Al Dente. Service was terrible- no attentiveness. One guy took our drinks and disappeared, another told us the specials but didn 't answer any questions or offer to get us anything and the woman who served the food tried to give us another tables meal, then didn 't know what she was serving us- Announced Penne Ala Vodka, but we ordered Sun Dried Tomatoes and Penne. Oh that 's what this is. Really??? There are no Sun Dried Tomatoes in your Sun Dried Tomatoes and Penne. . . So disappointing, tried to discuss it with the manager, but he just talked over us. Tried to explain that the pasta was uncooked and he kept claiming it was Al Dente and how the guy that told us the specials should have explained that to us. Come on!! Don 't patronize me. I know Al Dente- if you can 't cut pasta with a knife, it is not Al Dente it is uncooked. If your the manager listen to what the customer is saying and try a bite. Don 't tell us that you can have another dish out to us, in 5 minutes after we have waited 20 minutes after our appetizers were finished for our main course. If you could do it in 5 minutes, you should have done it the first time! Owners take heed- you need new management. PS. Tried to submit comments on the restauraunts comment page (directly to the restaurant, not a public forum) and it didn 't accept them. The management of this restaurant flat out doesn 't care.

I ate here a few years ago and was not crazy about it, and I still have heard people rave about Ciao Baby and their huge portions so I decided to give it another try. We asked about the stuffed peppers appetizer and the waiter said it was a little spicy-after my friends and I started eating it, it was extremely spicy, one of the spiciest things I have ever eaten. We sent it back and got baked clams instead. The baked clams smelled extremely unpleasant. Finally the main course came out which was chicken parm and it was not good at all. I didn't even have the leftovers wrapped because I never want to eat their food again!

My family and I loved the food and the service. Great Italian Food!!! It was fun to order and share the different entrees.

I grew up in Massapequa but now live in Virginia. Up for the weekend, decided to try out Ciao Baby because I had heard good things. Showed up at 7:00 pm on Sat night, expected a long wait for a party of 3. Told 1 hr, 45 min. Fine. Checked throughout the wait. Little movement. Place is packed. At 3 hr 15 min. stepped outside to call my friends and tell them that we still hadn 't been seated and that we would be late for drinks. Find out our name had been called in that small window and our name was crossed off the list, after someone else told us our name was called. No sympathy, no ;we 'll take care of you after your 3 1/2 hour wait. ; They could care less, they are raking it in hand over fist, so what is a couple, and a mother who had already left, to them. Don 't be fooled like we were, and watch as the parties of 6 and 8 get seated while a party of three sits and pumps money into the bar. We were the chumps tonight, but not again. If they tell you a wait time, multiply by two, and do not expect any sympathy while those with all the hook ups get their tables. Couldn 't tell you anything about the food.

Party of ten.......All was great until we told the waiter the appetizers were cold. Instant attitude...Our friendly waiter turned into psycho. I am in this business and was I shocked. Service was so bad. Because we were a party of 10, 18% gratuity was added. Boy was he lucky. Normally I leave between 25 and 30%, but this experience was no more than 5%. The food was very good, but so much. I will never go back.
