While some customers experienced issues with out-of-stock items and slow coffee service, others praised the Lobster Mac and Cheese and the Short Rib Sandwich. The service was friendly and the atmosphere was casual and welcoming, making it a great spot to enjoy sunset over the Connecticut River. Despite a few hiccups, the Gelston House seems to be a solid choice for those looking for a good meal before catching a show next door.
That's the best! After a boat trip on the river we discovered the Gelston House with a nice amount of diners on an outdoor veranda. It took only a few minutes to get a table overlooking the sunshine in the river. I ordered the lobster rolls and they were the best I ever had. They were buttery and delicate... I could have eaten them all day! I also had a rum with them and they were very good. My partner had a BURGER

We had an early dinner at the restaurant before we visited a show. The location is great for those who visit the Goodspped and the atmosphere outside on the terrace and in the restaurant is beautiful. We got a window table overlooking the water, the bridge and the theater. The waiting staff was friendly and attentive. We ordered drinks, appetizers and dinners. We were happy with everything we ordered and will eat there again.
It's a real shame. This place has a beautiful, historical location directly on the water, so you would expect to find class, elegance and top-quality service. Unfortunately, all three were absent. Water glasses were not refilled, the bathrooms were very untidy at the rough border, and the music was modern pop. When I am in a large old building next to a renowned musical venue, more music would have been expected. Most customers this afternoon were 60 and probably the same. I felt that the music was more for the preference of the staff than for the guests. The food was well prepared and tasty, which was the only highlight that was otherwise a very disappointing culinary experience.
What a great location to come and have dinner and watch the sunset. The service was great and our server ensured that we were well looked after. I also notice that the management was over to check how things were going that were estimated. The atmosphere is casual and welcoming. One of the photos here shows a band they had just outside on the green for music on the river. This is set up by the city and you can enjoy a great place in the restaurant and watch the show. Ed
