Have been there twice with groups of 14 and the feast provided has been excellent and very good value. Friendly and efficient restaurant. Will be going there again in a couple of weeks for a family dinner. BYOG. View all feedback.
What Althea Lind doesn't like about Royal Malaysian Cuisine:
We are huge fans of Royal Malay! Typically, we opt for delivery on lazy nights. The first time we tried it last year, we had an amazing meal - Sambal Eggplant, Char Kway Teow, and the most delicious Pandan Chicken! We regretted not ordering more. However, since then, the quality of the food hasn't been the same - the Pandan Chicken lacks flavor or is often unavailable. One time, we ordered a lemon chicken that tasted... View all feedback.
We have dined at Royal Malaysian several times now. The menu offers a variety of Malaysian favorites such as Mie Goreng, Laksa, Char Kwai Teow, and Hokkien Mie, as well as typical Chinese dishes. The food is decent, but nothing exceptional - I've tasted more delicious and authentic versions elsewhere. Despite this, we continue to return, so it must not be all bad. Overall, it is affordable and has a cheerful atmosphere.
Called in with family and it appears quite popular as there were many occupied tables. Lahksa was good but the pineapple rice and fish curry were quite underwhelming. Next time I'd try different dishes. Parking is easy and service quick and friendly.
Went here with a group, all enjoyed their meals. Service was excellent and efficient. Overall a nice experience, prices are very good.
Read the reviews of local restaurants for dinner with my daughter who lives reasonably locally after I flew in for work. The one night we get together and how disappointing the food was! We each ordered a dish but both were too salty and the chicken was over cooked and dry, prawns not deheaded.........expensive throw away....we left and bought a bottle of NZ Sav Blanc went back to the hotel and talked into the wee hours....an easy way to forget the poor excuse for dinner.
For a quick feed in this area, it's nice enough. However, the original fit out in Bentley is still consistently better, especially on the cereal king prawns.
