After being in business for 30 years and having visited it many times, New Leaf has unfortunately closed its doors. It is truly disappointing as it was a fantastic restaurant known for its delicious dumplings and affordable prices.
The food we ordered was the worst I've ever had. We ended up throwing away more than 80% of it.
We ventured to the New leaf as part of a recommendation from someone who had been to it previously and had a pleasurable experience, we should have known that when looking in the window to see the place was empty that it was not the same place as had been recommended ... however we decided to give it a try .... we walked in and asked for a table for 2 .... despite the place being empty we were gruffly shoved into the corner near the window to attract others to come in no doubt) having looked at the menu for at least 5 mins, without any offer of drinks , the plates were thrown on the table and we were rudely asked if we were ready to order , my friend clearly stated that he would have the chicken soup, to which the plate throwing female grunted something and pointed at the soup choices on the menu ... at this point we left ... without any one asking us why , i would avoid this place at all costs as its either changed hands since the person who recommended it to us was last there , or they have taken on a staff member who clearly does not like people
I popped in on Sat evening with a friend, it looked quiet and nice and because it was already late and we were hungry, we decided to give it a chance. Honestly, we should have gone somewhere else. The first waitress was kind but not really confident and helpful with the food. The food itself wasn 't impressive, not bad but totally not worthy the price. The top was when I asked for the so called lettuce rolls and I ve been served a bowl with the veggies (mainly garlic, in all fairness) and a separate plate with some lettuce leaves. Kind of do it yourself rolls- quite...unexpected! On the same note, the big big NO is about the service: after the first waitress, another one came and she was rude and very unfriendly, almost throwing the dishes on the table, not a single smile . I appreciate it was late and maybe they were longing to go home but this is not a good reason to treat customers this way. You could easily tell she wanted us to leave. She brought the bill with the service already included, and there was no option to exclude that. We would have spared the money, considering the extremely poor level of service and the bill being fairly pricey for such a simple meal.
