Modavie - E Montreal
Modavie
Description
The restaurant offers a mix of reviews, with some disappointed customers and others raving about the food and atmosphere. While some complained about the lack of vegetarian options, slow service, and excessive goat cheese in certain dishes, others praised the creative and delicious food, friendly service, and live music. Reviewers highlighted standout dishes like lamb poutine and bone marrow, as well as the warm and inviting atmosphere of the restaurant. Overall, it seems like Muse has the potential to become a great downtown spot if it garners more attention.

The food was delicious, the service was great and once the loud party behind us left the atmosphere was great. I love the live jazz music. I had the rack of lamb and it was good. Two people at my table had the filet and it was good too. My favorite was the pesto gnocchi. It was spot on. We also had the lava cake, chocolate mousse pyramid, and the apple pie. They were all good but the apple pie was my favorite. For four people we spent about US$300 with no drinks. Meal type: Dinner Price per person: $90–100 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Dietary restrictions: My wife cannot have gluten, dairy or soy. They prepared a filet mignon and vegetables that she could have and a dessert coffee. They were all delicious.
First heads up when you are doing a reservation you need to specify you want to seat for the live music, if not you are going to be seated far away in another room. They thankfully found us a table close and it was great. Music was very calm and cozy. Foodwise, the onion soup is amazing, a lot of cheese and rich. The salmon tartar was good but not amazing. The Steak and Fries is fantastic, the sauce on top of the steak is sensational. Food: 4 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
Modavie is a French Bistro that has excellent menu choices. We found the food to be very delicious and priced comparable to others in the old city, which is on the pricey side. The place jas a certain ambiance, which we found very pleasant. Caution: Make reservations in advance. We didn't have reservations, but we were fortunate to be seated regardless, but we had a two hour time limit to complete our meal. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
We expected a lot from Modavie but were sadly disappointed on this recent Saturday evening. When we arrived for our reservation, we were asked to stand to the side for 5 minutes, which turned into at least ten. Then our server did not appear with anything except menus for a long while. During the course of our meal, four different people delivered food, no one asked if we wanted ground pepper on the Caesar salads (squished into a too small bowl), no one refilled water etc. My husnand’s lamb chops were delicious but my Basque chicken was adequate at best. Side vegs (extra order) were lukewarm. The noise was cacophonous (live music from upstairs in particular). Wish we had gone on a quieter evening for the restaurant. We might have had a much better experience.
