ye old elm tree is another of durham's fabulous oldstyle, traditional pubs and the decor and style of this simply radiates charming and cozy. I also really like the location that is on a crossing of paved residential roads. we came here. by showing up the neville street, which is particularly charming and creates pictures of a nearby community for many years. but enough of my romanticism and back to review. as I have... What User dislikes about Ye Old Elm Tree Durham:
really disappointed by the service we have today. I was with my son for a meal and a few drinks at his birthday and we stood at the bar, while the bartender was going to a regular and then continue to send a text while we waited to serve. no excuse, totally ignored us until she's done. it would have taken her less time to serve us first, or only a commentary of ‘Sorry I will be with them in a minute’. I would have ru... View all feedback.

A lovely rustic hide gem that serves Stella unfiltered
Easy to understand why this pub is CAMRA pub of the year again. Historic building with a good ambience serving excellent real ales well. Friendly efficient staff.
Lovely friendly pub, visited 3 days ago and great to see the food menu back on, we had not been for a while. Dog friendly, always find someone nice to chat to, a lovely couple with a dog this time. We had a really tasty Bolognese on chips, good choice of different lagers and ale. Great location as well, wonderful view of Durham Cathedral from St Margaret's church just a few yards along. Staff extremely personable.
Walked in at 19:14, got drinks and menus, and then told us we had 5 minutes to order if we wanted food. The creamy mushrooms were watery and luke warm. Hallumi bites were OK, and the chicken wings were good. Mains The rib eye was more medium rare than medium well, no steak knife, but it wasn't needed. Tomatoes were raw but had a black middle as if they had cooked it. Chicken burger was solid. I could have used a hacksaw to find the dried chicken inside. The chicken curry was bland and watery. Poor choice of non alcoholic beers. Monday night is folk night, and the calming music calmed the savage breast after that burger. I don't like leaving reviews that are not glowing, it is a good pub that could be great with a bit of attention to detail in the food you serve.
Well this is a splendid place. Choice of real ales, food was good, hot and fast. Old style pub. Nice space deck out the back Away from city centre, but not that far (bus station is near, rail station not far)
Nestled in a charming location in Durham, The Ye Old Elm Tree Pub offers a delightful experience characterized by warm hospitality and a welcoming atmosphere. Patrons rave about the staff's attentiveness and the eclectic drink selection, featuring top-notch ales and whiskies. The cozy ambiance, complete with a lovely fire and dog-friendly policies, adds to its appeal. While some diners noted inconsistencies in food quality in the past, the recent return of a food menu has rekindled interest. With a beautiful view of Durham Cathedral and a relaxed vibe, this pub is undoubtedly a must-visit.

I would have run out, but I didn't want to embarrass my son. he told him later and he said he thought the same thing. they are ridiculous when they think that the customer service is

I also really like the location that is on a crossing of paved residential roads. we came here. by showing up the neville street, which is particularly charming and creates pictures of a nearby community for many years. but enough of my romanticism and back to review. as I have already indicated, this is a cozy and beautifully designed and decorated pub. it has a real “local” pub atmosphere and service and the beer were very good. it's really a nice old pub.
What a brilliant place, a must if in durham. excellent staff, excellent service, dog friendly, cozy and welcoming. an excellent selection of beer and other drinks.
In this againstd um crossgate there are some great pubs, the ye old elm tree pub was such a pub we visited. if I went in here and I knew that I would enjoy my visit, the interieur is cool, a great serviceable, eclectic device and facility. and spread many sitting possibilities in this pub, its wonderful pub to relax. we were here on Thursday evening, warmly welcomed by a very pleasant member of the bar team, we decided to have a bright ale from the brew yorker brewery called thunder, which were served in excellent condition, we just stepped back and took in the big pub where we were. my pale ale was really good, a crisp, well balanced pale ale, sounds of toffee and a delicious aroma and aftertaste with a slightly bitter finish on it, a classic British pale ale, so delicious and refreshing at such a hot evening. we both really enjoyed that our mate-alone is in here before we went on and although our visit was only for a first visit in the ye old elm tree pub volatile, we were totally impressed. the ye old elm tree pub is easy to find along crossgate. opening times are; Monday to Sunday, open from 11.30 a.m. a wonderful pub, one I recommend to them when they are in the opposite.
Visited with son on Hallowe’en Saturday and had a great time. Staff were friendly and welcoming and the place had a real mix of customers with lots of laughter and chat. Good range of beers for real ale fans and decent sounds that are loud...enough to be heard but background enough so you can enjoy the banter. Really worth a visit.
