Food was good, but not outstanding. Service was also good. Wine was expensive, but that is nothing unusual for a hotel restaurant. I had the blade of beef very nice; my partner had the beef and ale pie which he said was very good. Prices were reasonable under £20.00 each for a main course. No other food ordered. Good service, nice eating. it was very quiet on Friday

Food was good, but not outstanding. Service was also good. Wine was expensive, but that is nothing unusual for a hotel restaurant. Attentive staff Beautiful food cooked to perfection Fantastic value for money We were even given a free glass of Prosecco each as it was my Wife's Birthday. You even receive a decent bottle of wine free if you order two courses or more .

We chose The Hearty Hedgehog to meet rather than head into Durham and it was a superb choice. It was a Monday lunchtime so very quiet but the staff were superb and the food excellent.

Great food just a bit of a wait for our meal even though restaurant was quiet
