**Restaurant Review: Pizza Express – A Mixed Bag of Experiences**
Pizza Express promises a blend of comforting classics and innovative options, yet recent visits indicate inconsistency in service and food quality. While many patrons appreciate the quick and friendly service, some have faced delays and inadequate responses to concerns, affecting their overall dining experience. Notably, gluten-free and vegan dishes stand out, showcasing the restaurant's commitment to inclusivity. However, ambiance issues and a few unkempt facilities detract from the atmosphere. Despite some frustrations, loyal customers continue to favor Pizza Express for its reliable pizza offerings, especially when compared to other chains in the region.

The outside vegan options looked very few, but the inside menu we were given is much more extensive with a bit more choice. The American jack pizza (vegan jackfruit pepperoni) was probably the best pepperoni alternative I’ve had, and great vegan cheeze too! Updated from previous review on 2022-05-13
I have visited Pizza Express many times in recent years. Along with Zizzi and Ask, it's one of the places where you can find pizza with vegan cheese. However, Pizza Express goes above and beyond when it comes to catering for vegans. Their vegan menu offers a fantastic variety of pizzas. I particularly enjoyed the vegan diavalo with jackfruit pepperoni and three types of chilli peppers, as well as the jackfruit pepperoni pizza with black olives. The restaurant can get quite busy, especially on weekends and during university semester. The toilets downstairs are a bit inconvenient, but other than that, you can expect great service in the long and narrow premises. Don't forget to use your Tesco voucher codes!
We’ve eaten here many times over the last 10 years or so and had wonderful experiences. The last one however was quite disappointing. The pasta I had was bland and the vegan pizzas we got between the 3 of us were more like ones you’d get from Iceland Im so sorry to say.
During my visit to Durham this week with my son, we decided to try out this pizza express as a compromise. I typically enjoy vegan pizzas, but this one was exceptionally terrible. It tasted like a frozen pizza from a supermarket. The kitchen appeared to be operated by young teenagers. Despite this, the service was fairly good.
