I recently attended a birthday brunch with my family and we were incredibly impressed. The French toast was delicious and so were all the other dishes. The service was exceptional, with our server Mehdi taking great care of us. The staff were all very friendly and the food was perfect. Overall, a high-quality experience. View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about Vista:
The service at this restaurant was terrible and the food at the Sunday buffet was just average. Many customers were disappointed by the lack of respect shown by the staff. View all feedback.
We always enjoy at least a fine culinary experience in the vista restaurant. the selection of the food is so that everyone can enjoy something. the hotel is located in the washington duke inn is an additional comfort for hotel guests who do not want to drive anywhere.
Despite the staff having to mask the service was lovely and the staff friendly. I had breakfast, lunch and dinner while staying in the Inn which houses the restaurant. The Executive Chef has developed menus that feature local products (and North Carolina has everything)! Breakfast was a buffet with eggs to order, etc. I thought the bread products, specifically croissants, could have been fresher. Other than that it would have been hard to improve on quality, creativity and portions presented at all three meals. With the lovely views of the putting green and the outdoor seating option, there is something in this restaurant for everyone to like.
Had a very special birthday breakfast at the Vista, located in the Washington Duke Inn. Wait staff was extremely attentive and food was superb. So nice we could enjoy it even though we weren't staying at the Inn.
Wonderful choices on the menu or from the buffet. Fresh squeezed orange juice. Biscuit sandwiches are huge and yummy.
I went to Duke, stayed in the Washington Duke Inn numerous times for business, and now live in the Durham area. I've had breakfast at the Vista Restaurant many times in year past, and have tried it several times since coming back--the experience has become quite awful. 1) Service is awful--during the course of our entire meal, not a single dirty dish was taken from our table. By the end of the meal (it is a buffet), there was quite a stack of dirty dishes. They also NOT ONCE refilled our drinks, even when asked to. I eventually just got up, went to the server stand, and filled them myself. 2) The buffet line was very poorly stocked--for most of our meal, there was no bacon. Additionally, they served smoked salmon and cream cheese to go on bagels...yet the only bagels they had were blue berry bagels. They also ran out of strawberries for the people ahead of us in line, and never replenished them during the course of our meal. When I asked the person for a different one, she said they were out. At 10:00 on Sunday morning for breakfast? 3) You walk through the brunch room on your way to the breakfast buffet. You are not allowed to go into the brunch room for anything there, and it is quite obvious it is a lower class of service. Eventually, we just agreed to pay the additional 10.00 a person to be able to get to the pastry tables there, as we were hungry. I used to love this place--and still love the Bull Durham Bar, Fair View Dining room, and Washington Duke golf course. However, this place has become something I would not recommend.
