We had 10 people in our party and made reservations ahead of time. Arrived a little early and they had no problem getting us seated right away. Server, Fred, was very knowledgeable, friendly and fast. Food was fantastic-especially the banana pudding. Can't wait to come back again. View all feedback.

Was going to be in the area for a concert at the venue across the street and heard good things about the food here. Made a reservation beforehand and didn't have to wait long after arriving for the table to be ready. Took a little longer than I would have expected to get the food but the place was very busy with several large parties. There was a small mix-up over what one of us ordered and what was brought to the ta... View all feedback.
My wife and I made reservations for 2:00 Sunday, July 1. We got there a few minutes early and were shown to our table. The waiter was there in less than 5 minutes, went over the menu and took our drink orders. He also made a couple of menu recommendations, as this was our first visit to the Durham location. The manager walked by and spoke. He’d overheard us saying this was our first visit to the Durham location and offered to comp our appitizer, Soul Rolls. Long story short, the server was great, management was friendly and the food was fantastic. I’ll definitely return.
Exceptional food and staff! Coming from California and not knowing what to order our waiter brought us a sampler platter. Great place! Very yummy! Probably brought home 2 lbs of leftovers!
My favorite restaurant in the world. Yes, the food is truly incredible, but the service is even better! Brisket is the best you’ll ever have. Wish they had their pecan pie.
We've been to The Pit in both Durham and Raleigh several times and we have consistently had fantastic food and service. But tonight's visit tops all of them as my husband was treated to the best birthday ever. Kudos to Andy (GM) and Sarah (server) for making his day so special. We can't thank you both enough for the fantastic dinner, amazing service, and the mile-high chocolate cake! We can't wait to go back!
We had our wedding reception at The Pit in Durham and it was perfect! We knew the food would be good but OMG it was so delicious. What I've always loved about The Pit is not only is their BBQ amazing, but they don't slack on their sides. We are still eating the leftovers, that the staff kindly packed for us, days later. Soooooo good. We picked The Pit obviously because of the food and the amazing building (the rooftop at night was absolutely enchanting, especially after our guests left and it was just the two of us), but also because they handled the setup, breakdown, staffing, alcohol, etc... I've been telling people The Pit was the unicorn of our wedding planning process. Liz, the event manager, was a dream to work with. She was accommodating and very tolerant of lots of questions. She made sure we had all the information we needed. It did a lot for my anxiety with wedding planning for her to be so unflappable. All of the staff were super friendly and helpful at both our tasting and the day of the wedding. They handled changes, like dropping off the cake hours early, with a calm, reassuring manner. Seriously they were all a delight to work with. The bartender, Alberto, and waitress, Emily, were absolutely great. They made sure we had any/everything we needed. Additionally they just seemed like really sweet people. We had the upstairs area and it was such a nice night that all of our guests stayed on the porch the whole night, only coming inside for food and drinks.
