While some guests enjoyed the delicious food, great service, and comfortable atmosphere, others faced issues with unfriendly staff, unexpected charges, and slow service. The drag brunch was disappointing, with understocked and slow bar service. However, the patio lunch received positive reviews for its pleasant setting, delicious appetizers, and attentive server. Joey stood out for his excellent service at the pool. The igloo dining experience was unique and enjoyable, despite some minor issues. Overall, Unscripted is a premier hotel in Durham with a mix of ups and downs.
Update 2020: they offer minimal vegan options and do not have any of the 2018 options on the menu. I have dined at unscripted in the frame of the bull city vegan challenge 2018. they offer a 3-course vegan meal including a coquette appetizer with sweet potato, mushroom, greens, and cheese in a small casserole pot, covered with a Vegg yolk. the escape is a jackfruit bourguiginon and for desserts a vegan cream brulee. all very delicious! I was previously for the impossible burger and appreciated, they serve it vegan, with vegan cheese, etc. the personal I met is super friendly. the service can sometimes be slow, based on others I have heard, but I never had a problem. I also love that they use milk for latte in caffe. updated by previous review on 2020-09-24
The drinks, music, and service were great. It's one of my favorite places to take friends from out of town.
Has a great retro feel of an old time motel pool bar. Durham has some unique hotels in the downtown, this being one of them. With the pool and band stage, there are limited tables on busy nights. But the band drink special made for a night of fun. It had a menu but we had other dinner plans.Kid-friendliness: Very. There were families staying in the rooms facing the pool and some of the kids were hanging out at the pool.Parking: A few options, but be patient.
Although my waiter Jacoby was great, the fact that you replaced a DJ with a sub standard boring band is confusing. Are you intentionally trying to turn people away? I invited a group to visit and we left after the second song. You should be ashamed of yourself Patio. It's obvious that you are attempting to exclude a certain type of crowd. Congratulations, you have achieved excluding people who will be alive in 10 years and spend money.
Great scene. Food excellent. Service was on top of things. Music made it fun but wasn’t over the top, great time had by the pool.
