We got some guidance from our server. He explained that you can mix and match anything and that made my decision harder. I ordered the orange chicken and swapped things around. I wanted a classic chicken cutlet (excellent) was advised to get the vegan waffle (very dense- tastes fine but was not light and fluffy, it had the texture of under cooked waffles- not what I’m used to) I got the blueberry schmere and the hot... What Nikko Osinski doesn't like about Dame's Chicken Waffles:
Two of my friends and I went Wednesday after 11am. They only had two workers working front of the restaurant who were wonderful. I think they did a great job seating, taking orders, bartending, and cleaning tables. I was amazed how they didn’t get overwhelmed. Now about the food, I live 1 hr and 30 mins away so have to be good for me to want to drive that far again for it. I ordered three chicken wings with waffle, s... View all feedback.
Oh my goodness, wow! The server's recommendations were spot on. I had heard so many great things about this place and I was not disappointed. I'm not usually a fan of chicken and waffles, so I was thrilled to see so many unique and delicious options on their menu. A family friend and I put our names on the waitlist and were seated quickly. Our server was friendly and had a laid-back vibe, although at times seemed a bit distracted. I ordered the shrimp and grits which came with a side of greens. My friend opted for the catfish with a side of squash. Our food arrived in about 20 minutes and we dug in. Every bite was better than the last and I had to pace myself to savor it. The portions were generous, enough to take home for a delicious breakfast the next day. I highly recommend this place for a fantastic meal. I appreciate that they are locally owned and operated by a Black owner.
The front of house staff were excellent and appeared ready to handle a large number of guests. Most of the food was tasty, especially the shrimp and grits. However, our waitress lacked urgency and had trouble getting all of our orders correct, despite my efforts to assist in ordering. The kitchen seemed overwhelmed, with one person in our party not receiving their meal until after the rest of us had finished. Despite these issues, I would be willing to give this restaurant another try, perhaps at a less busy time.
Please be aware that the plant-based chicken is not suitable for vegans as it contains dairy and eggs.

Now about the food, I live 1 hr and 30 mins away so have to be good for me to want to drive that far again for it. I ordered three chicken wings with waffle, sassy grits, and a sunset mimosa. The chicken was okay and the waffle wasn’t good. The waffle was cold.I had better chicken and better waffles before. The drink was good and the shrimp grits were good until I got home. When I got home and finally ate the rest of my grits it had plastic in it.
The only good thing about eating here was spending time with my husband. Our server was not friendly, she did not remember nor input our entire order correctly for us to receive everything at once. Her energy and nonchalant attitude left us with a bad taste visiting from DC. The shrimp and grits were good. Wings just ok.
