Waited a while to try the spot. My best friend came into town so I brought her here. We got there on a Thursday evening. It was pretty dead downstairs. Ordered a martini and it was disgusting. Way too much vermouth. I had to wait 15 minutes to order another drink because the bartender kept getting missing all night. I will give this place another try just because of all the other good reviews, but my first experience was not good. Should’ve went upstairs to bar Virgil.

Bartenders unattentive and uninterested in serving customers. Packed and nowhere to sit. This place is WAAAYYY overhyped. Not worth the or time. Unimpressed.

The cocktails and food are amazing! The bartenders and service is so speedy and everyone is super friendly. Definitely one of the best Durham spots!

Adjacent and downstairs from Bar Virgile, the Annexe is the classiest waiting area in the Triangle. You can sit down here and wait for your real table upstairs, or just enjoy the speakeasy vibe here with the same menu. I 'm back for the deviled eggs, and they are just as wonderful as previous visits. Tonight I had a Last Word and a Corpse Reviver #2. Both arrived shaken to perfection by Michael, who made more drinks in the 45 minutes I was there than I could count. I only saw him stumped once, when I asked for the Corpse Reviver. I 've not made that one in a while. Three minutes later, it 's sitting in front of me, and seven or eight other couples have also been served. The man is a machine!There is a LOT going on in the background to make sure you 're having a nice night out in the city. The team here does an amazing job of making sure you don 't see the effort, and only enjoy the fruits of their labor. Thanks, gang!
