Just stopped for coffee and cake. Wonderful service and atmosphere.

Lovely cosy looking coffee shop which tempted us in while exploring Duras. The welcome unfortunately left a lot to be desired. We were the only customers at 14.30 and ordered drinks and cakes but got the feeling that we were an inconvenience for the lady serving. Maybe we called at a bad time based on other reviews but I wouldn’t return. Extra star as the coffee was good.

Sad to say that the service was terrible. The coffee owner didn't explain what the cakes were (only after asking she said one word without the detail of the flavour, quite harshly to be honest) when we said we spoke english she seemed to be angry or in a bad mood and the lemonade that I had was not real lemonade but more like 7up. I am not happy at all with my experience here. I don't know if it is because we are not french, because we came at 13:38 and only wanted dessert and a coffee (even though there were a couple other free tables), or who knows. In that case she could have just said they only serve lunch and we would have gone elsewhere. Regardless I am quite sad with the experience especially because she explained the items thoroughly to another group right after us and it made us feel quite disrespected. Even though the cakes were good, I won't be coming back. The experience was quite uncomfortable as we felt deeply unwelcomed.

Newly opened in Duras, this tea shop reminds you of English tea shops with the comfortable leather settees. Lydie, the owner has worked in London and Dublin, so if your French is a bit rusty her English is impeccable. She is a patissière by trade so the cakes are to die for! She also serves salads, quiches, briskets for lunch so if you want a light lunch with a heavenly dessert, go straight there! She serves the delicious teas sold by Laurent of the comptoir de Marguerite next door, so you are in for a treat if you love your teas. Duras is so blessed by so many quality places to eat in or to shop!
