We stayed at the campsite on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. We had a very friendly welcome and enjoyed our Christmas very much. Christmas meal was very enjoyable with fantastic service. We would definitely recommend a stay and visit to the restaurant at Le Cabri. Thank you for making our Christmas enjoyable.
We all enjoyed our evening, attentive staff and an excellent new chef. Craving for fish and chips, so just returned tonight....crisp batter and chips. Wish them all success
Having moved to the locale recently, Le Cabri has become one of our favourite restaurants. Our first visit along with our two Irish friends then holidaying in France took place on a cold and rainy, autumnal October day. This cozy restaurant with its blazing log fire was just so inviting and matched only by Steve and Sarah's warm, hospitable welcome that was also extended to our beloved border collie Frankie who felt immediately at home by the fire. The boys opted for the perfectly cooked, ever so tender, steak bavette with a pepper sauce whilst we two girls throughly enjoyed the mouth-wateringly, delicious salmon fillets, all dishes served with beautifully dressed salad and delicious frites de Maison. We followed with cheesecake and pannacota with fruit coulis...perfection! Indeed, our visiting friends remarked that it was the best meal that they had had in France. We have since returned to Le Cabri on numerous occasions and have never been disappointed. The Carpaccio of beef, the giant profiteroles and creme brûlée along with the amazing Angus beef reign tip top on our list of endless highlights. Sarah and Steve work so hard to ensure that Le Cabri has become one of the most popular, yet unpretentious restaurants in the Duras area. First time visitors are naturally welcomed as if they were old friends so sit back, relax and simply enjoy the ambience Steve and Sarah have created along with the food, wonderful wines and beers that they serve with a smile conversing en Francais, Anglais or Franglais effortlessly ensuring that English speaking guests can feel comfortable practicing their school French shoukd they so desire! On our next visit, we are literally salivating at the prospect of trying the pan fried duck liver in honey. We simply love this place and suspect that once you savour Le Cabri's delights, that you will you return in a heartbeat!
Oh dear. What a shocking Sunday lunch. After reading some good reviews we decided to give it a go. The rose wine was lukewarm and was served with a bowl of ice. The mozzarella salad came with lettuce (to fill up the plate I suppose). Lunch itself was a real plateful but the quality was not good. The mashed potato was sloppy, the Yorkshire pudding was like a sponge and the veg was boiled to death. The same gravy was served for both pork and lamb. The mint and apple sauces wer3 straight out of the jar (jars placed on table). Really bad food and will not return.
Visited in January for two nights in Motorhome. We were made very welcome, water and electricity on each spot. Although we were the only visitors the heating and hot water were on in the toilet block. Restaurant closed for renovations. Sited in lovely rolling countryside. Very peaceful. Many thanks to David and Richard.
