We were advised when we arrived that they had delivery problems and therefore had only one frying available, or steak or chicken cake. we decided to stay, the s... read more We were advised when we arrived that they had delivery problems and therefore had only one frying available, or steak or chicken cake. we decided to stay, the starter was not bad, my slowly cooked pork was the worst fried I had. it was served with a whole carrot cut length! the black bauch was made with a fat layer that was not even made, the meat and fat measured about 4 in’s by 3 ins and was about 3/4 inches thick. I couldn't eat it! like a cook that allowed to leave the kitchen, I can only say he or she should change her job. the waitress was apologetic and actually pulled her off the bill, bless her.

I rang t... read more We turned up at the pub for our meal which we were really looking forward to it : As we parked up all the lights went out and there was total darkness. I rang the pub several times from the car park and got no answer. I really couldn't work out what was going off. I ended up booking another table somewhere else so my husband and I could eat. I left a message at The Travellers Rest to say if they were having problems I thought it a bit rude that they hadn't taken the time to call their customers that had booked a table to let them know what was happening. We arrived at the next place where we managed to get a table, whilst we were waiting I got a phone call from The Travellers Rest to let me know that the reason the pub was in darkness was that they'd had a power cut and the only reason I got a phone call to let me know was because I had left the voicemail asking what was going on. Unfortunately it also meant that the voucher I had for that night expired before I can get over that way again.
