First off this little town is a hidden gem. While it really appears to be struggling to survive, boy does it have some fun/great/unique not to miss spots. The Wheelhouse is one of the not to miss spots in this area. Great service, eclectic fun place, great beers(at least the stout (the “bomb”)was) and we had breakfast selections that were very good (great scrambled eggs) and the mushroom appetizer was terrific. What Nathan Barnes doesn't like about The Wheelhouse:
I don't normally leave reviews, I didn't like this much. I sat at the bar around 5:30 or 5:45 and wasn't ever asked if I wanted to order food until I asked a bartender a couple hours later, what turned out to be 10 minutes until closing, so I had to take my dinner to go. View all feedback.
Such a great vibe here! The food was amazing, came out quickly, and the atmosphere is so inviting we stayed and played Catan. The staff was so genuine and made us feel so welcomed. They told us to make ourselves at home and we really did feel at home. The locals were so friendly and recommended some dishes to us. The concept is so fun too, you can rent games to play at your table. They also have a free to play shelf! We are obsessed and can't wait to come back
Really loved this place. Board games, friendly staff, and a river running under it? This is going to be a regular stop when I drive through.
Friendly, enthusiastic staff, good food, and WiFi. I stopped in for a snack and to get some work done. I would definitely go back for their wine selection in the evening.
Stumbled upon this gem located in a small town. From the outside you can tell the place is quirky in a good way. When you walk in you immediately feel the good vibes love all the plants and the calming feel. Great place to settle down after a hike at the local state park. Got there around 2:30 and was pleased they still had some breakfast options. Ordered a dirty chai, the roundhouse breakfast plate, fried mushrooms and a finished with a desert of the local cider. Dirty Chai spot on and was delicious! 5/5 Roundhouse pancakes were good and came of butter and syrup, bacon was crispy and scrambled eggs were fresh! 5/5 Fried Mushrooms: nice and crispy exterior with full mushrooms, came with a choice of sauces and waiter eagerly gave two choices. Perfectly cooked 5/5 Cider believe it was cherry cider from over from Eureka, winter gave the whole backstory and sounded quite lovely but did mentioned the quality had slipped a bit from the supplier. Overall it was alright, but wouldn’t order again 3/5. Staff was engaged, knowledgeable and served to go waters for the hot day (was over 100 outside where we left). Great touch! I didn’t get a photo of it, but the adjacent room had quite the beer selection and also full of board games. Overall great experience and venture off Main Street! I could definitely see myself coming bad over and over again if I lived closer. Great local gem! Parking: Plenty of on street parking, as the place is located off of Main Street. Was able to get a spot right in front of the restaurant and right in the shade!
Amazing place. Absolutely love the atmosphere and vibe. Fun relaxing. Fun activities with a plethora of board games and interesting beer choices.
