The service is impeccable: you truly feel valued and attentive without ever feeling overwhelmed. And the burgers... they're absolutely top-notch! Flavorful, generously topped, and perfectly cooked. A real treat from start to finish. I recommend it 100%!

At L'informel the warm and wonderful welcome is matched by the competent and well fused food of this region. Chicken which tastes like chicken, wild boar sausage which has some resemblance of the animal as well as good solid flavours which run through the starters and puddings. We had the house Merlot which was really good and well chosen, a true mark which shows that house wine is representative of the restaurant. Modern and minimalist is not for some, the use of black clothes and napkins emphasises the food plate and does not let the mind wonder to far from the table. The service is relaxed and like the name suggests informal, we liked this place a lot and loved the lady with the warmest welcome on a miserable day.

After a long day of travel and... read more I had researched Trip Advisor restaurants in Dunkerque before our visit to Northern France Belgium and I am so glad that I did!! After a long day of travel and an extensive evening walk on the beach pier our party of nine was famished. Even with GPS the restaurant was a little difficult to find but again so glad that we did!! The small restaurant was very busy on Saturday evening, but the waitress was friendly and accomodating. All members of our party enjoyed the very unique hamburgers with great bread and special sauces. Desserts were yummy too!!

Th... read more We're on a little one day outing from Brugge. Wanted to see a bit of northern France. Stopped in L'informal for a burger as had read the Trip Advisor review. The couple running the place were superbly nice. The burgers were huge on fresh buns and although messy, quite good. After our meal, the nice lady let my 11 year old pick out a French book as a gift. This quaint little place was great. Highly recommend!!

There was a warm, friendly atmosphere as we entered L'informel, and a gentle buzz of local people enjoying lunchtime. Our hostess welcomed us with a smile, and very kindly asked whether we would prefer to speak French or English most courteous! The pace of lunch was relaxed, the choice of dishes good, food very tasty, and service impeccable. One of the most enjoyable lunches I've had, and certainly a high spot on our visit to Dunkerque. Strongly recommended.

I knew the informal back when she made amazing burgers with local ingredients. They have maintained the principle of quality and local ingredients. Meals are still delicious, but not on site, but eaten at home.
