I've been here for many years for my post-fitness lunch. Very friendly staff. Her rice balls have always been the biggest drawing card for me and were quite cheap, but very large. Before I went vegetarian, I really enjoyed her crispy chicken egg balls with her Japanese Mayo inside, and now I get the vegetarian version of it. The Mayo does it really for me, and they also make the rice balls on request for farewell. View all feedback.
What Maija Jespersen doesn't like about Shinjuku Sushi:
The salad was a large, dense scoop of shredded cabbage covered in squiggles of aioli. I was horrified. The sashimi was tiny, with no sides at all, and the dumplings left a nasty taste in my mouth. I got ice cream straight afterwards to get rid of the taste. I might have accidentally ordered the worst things on the menu, but I don't think I'll be going back. View all feedback.
Don't be misled by the modest exterior. The food is tasty, reasonably priced, and the portions are generous. The staff is exceptionally friendly, and the wait for food is minimal. I highly recommend it – 10/10!
I felt it was important to share my thoughts on this incredibly unpretentious Japanese gem in Dunedin. It is surprisingly low on pretension but high on flavor and value. It still amazes me that on a Friday night, the place is almost empty. There’s no online ordering, so if you want to call ahead, you’ll need to check the menu pictures. The staff are lovely, and the food is delicious. The teriyaki salmon is outstanding and served in generous portions.
Best sushi in dunedin by far, always lovely workers, cute and warm and well-decorated spot. super sweet place! and the food is just so yummy!!! every time!!

Delicious! We left this place feeling very happy. The staff was friendly and welcoming, and the flavors were fantastic. We would definitely return.
