Quatrefoil - Dundas

My wonderful 'night out ' was started by the Welcome person. She sat me (a single) at the far corner table. Great view of the whole patio and being entertained by the 'performance ' of all the amazing staff, giving great service to everyone. And the food.... I had the Scallops, with a perfect sear and yummy Steak Tartare. Lovely presentation, too.

This was my first time trying this establishment. Interior was very elegant in the dining area. For drinks my friend and I started with their signature cocktails: the Sour Tequino and Carmen Miranda. We were served with the complementary table bread. For the mains, I had the fenwood farm chicken breast and my friend had the cumbrae’s beef tenderloin. Overall, the food and drinks tasted great.

Family dinner night out with our adult children. Initial greeting at door was great but as we waited and perused the drink menu it seemed like we were forgotten. Rather than taking a drink order another staff member came and showed us to the table, asking all the same questions as the first person we encountered. A bit awkward to the point I am thinking they are training new staff? We were shown to a table upstairs. To be honest the atmosphere upstairs is non existant, I don't recommend it unless you are a large party and bring your own atmosphere if you know what I mean. Once the waiter saw us he took is time getting to us to even ask what kind of water we wanted. Did not ask for drink orders at that point. When our choice of water wasn't available he came to ask if still water was ok, we said yes and off he went. Again, not taking drink orders. Eventually he asked if we wanted a cocktail or were ready to order. We ordered cocktails and went from there. The cocktails were amazing, one of the best Caesars I have had in a while! We weren't told what the special was until we were ready to order so no time to really consider. FF to dinner. The food. Oh the food is still so fantastic. 2 of us had steaks 2 of us Veal and one of us chicken. It was among the best food all of us have had in a long time. Bottom line, the food here is so good it almost trumped the lack of personality shown this visit. We have had some wonderful evenings here but this was not one of them. The service was awkward and did not add anything to the experience, the atmosphere upstairs was dreadful including the staff visiting with another table behind us, while the broken silence was welcome the loud laughing of the staff member was annoying. I feel we didn't experience front the of the house on their best night, luckily the kitchen didn't disappoint. When you spend 5 figs on 5 people you kind of want the whole package.

Invited to a brilliant and intimate and lazy supper last night featuring Chef Fraser and his team on point as usual. Sips were all from 13th Street in St. Catharines, the best little winery you've never heard of, with winemaker JP Colas giving context and entertaining between courses. No it's never cheap, but it's never dull either, and never anything short of excellent from Front to Back of House.

Had a lovely dinner with cocktails at this wonderful restaurant. My wife, son and I are hard core foodies who have eaten the world over in many fine and some famous eateries, and I have to say that the food and service at Quatrefoil ranks among some of the best meals we've ever had. A magical little spot in Dundas as well. Don't pass up the opportunity to dine here!
