Description

Nestled within the historic Fitgers complex, The Rex Bar offers a vibrant atmosphere for both locals and visitors. Patrons enjoy a diverse selection of beers and cocktails, complemented by live music events that attract a varied crowd. However, the bar's ambiance can be dampened by long waits and inconsistent service, particularly during busy events like the Duluth Homegrown Music Fest. While some guests laud the friendly staff and leisure activities such as pool and arcade games, others find the space dark and the drinks pricey. Overall, The Rex remains a venue with potential, though it faces challenges in crowd management and service consistency.

As a college student, I don't believe Wednesday should be designated as college night at this restaurant. It's the best spot in town for drinks and socializing on Wednesday nights.

Wished there had been beer buckets to help with the overflow of people wanting to buy drinks, those poor bartenders were not prepared for a four person deep wait on ordering.

The restaurant is always busy with fantastic live bands during festivals, and there is even a dance floor for guests to enjoy.

UNPROFESSIONAL I 'm 25 and went here last night intending to celebrate a close friends birthday, whom I haven 't seen in months. The bouncer flagged me for listing off my full address, including the PO BOX which was not on my driver 's license, understandable. However, after he said he wasn 't comfortable with me entering he never bothered to ask me for more verification; Facebook, Instagram etc. I also had three credit cards with my full name on them that matched my ID. He told me to call Duluth PD to come and scan my ID for verification. I waited upstairs and when they arrived they spoke with me and verified that I was who I said I was. The officer then proceeded to go and reprimand the bouncer for wasting their time. I then went back downstairs and he still would not let me in nor have a conversation with me about the situation. At this point he had zero basis for keeping me out so I can only assume it was he had a personal bias. Maybe it 's because my shirt wasn 't half-way down my chest like the three girls in front of me that he barely vetted. I 'm also gay and I 've known people who have had similar issues with this establishment. I 've never run into such an egostiscal and grandiose mannered bouncer at a bar. Between myself and my friends, we 've previously spent thousands of dollars here and now will no longer spend time here. I am still baffled by this entire situation, 0 stars.
