I have eaten at JJ Astor on and off for at least 20 years. However, a staff member told us that they are remodeling and changing the menu. The food was excellent but a little pricey, I hope things don't change to much. My guests and I and totally enjoyed ourselves. Thank you View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about Jj Astor:
The food was absolutely delicious! Our server was personable, efficient, and knowledgeable about the menu. We were a party of five, and we ordered two filet mignons and one fried lobster, which cost $98 for both. Although the price is a bit steep, it was completely worth it because it was so delicious and perfectly prepared! However, I think they should inform customers about the price when they order. Reserved a month ago, and when we arrived, they overbooked, and we never have to keep our reservations that we really wanted to keep for our special engagement party. we had to go and go somewhere else that was already booked. very disappointing and sad.
I have gone to JJ Astors twice in my life and regretted it both times. The first time, the fish was undercooked so we sent it back. They brought out the same piece of fish after trying to reconcile their first mess up. The second time the fish came out, it again was slimy and undercooked. I made the mistake of giving JJ Astor a second chance. The second time, the food came out extremely undercooked and the waitress was awful. The chicken was slimy and purple on the inside. We ended up trying a couple bites of the chicken but had to send it back due to the scare of getting sick. Our waitress had an attitude the entire time and messed up our drink order multiple times. I ordered an old fashioned but ended up getting a clearly shaken Manhattan. SHAKEN Manhattan. Not only was the drink incorrect but they also broke the golden rule of a Manhattan must always be stirred, not shaken. I also ordered a glass of Pinot Noir; however, I never got my glass of wine. I ended up asking for my glass of wine a second time, but it still never showed up. Finally, we ordered a piece of cheesecake because of how hungry we still were due to the horrible quality of our entrees. We ate about 3 bites of the cheesecake and couldn 't eat anymore. It was dry and unflavorful. I have tasted more moist and flavorful sand on the beach than this cheesecake. The only enjoyable part of dinner was the view over all of Duluth. However, I would highly recommend going up to Enger Tower to get a great view of Duluth instead of paying for an extremely overpriced meal that isn 't even as tasty as McDonalds. I will never go back to JJ Astor ever again as I have never been more disappointed in a restaurant in my life. Never would I ever recommend this horrifying excuse for a nice restaurant to my worst enemy, let alone anyone I actually like. Go at your own risk.
We go for the view if the bay and city ftom the only rotating dining room in duluth. The food was good but not for the elevated price range.

Menu was vague and complicated, especially add ons with entrees that were ridiculous and petty extras like $2 for onion ring with steak that was described as coming with dish. Waiter was excellent, eve apologizing for menu. It’s main attraction is the view
