A Wetherspoons pub offering a good selection of real ales alongside the usual choice of other alcoholic and soft drinks. Also on offer is the extensive food menu, typically available from this chain, and is well prepared and presented. The staff are friendly and hospitable, and were not only very understanding when I made an error whilst ordering from the app, but also resolved the issue quickly and without any fuss,... What serap2013 doesn't like about The Clifton Jd Wetherspoon:
Sticky tables full of glasses, sub-par food, drinks served in dirty glasses. I love cheap and cheerful but todays experience has put me off, staff friendly enough but it’s just too grim in there sometimes. Cheese panini came out with cheese still like a slice and barely warm, so clearly not grilled for long enough. Scampi came out dark brown so either overcooked or the fryer oil is in need of changing. Too much ice i... View all feedback.
My family visited this restaurant, with one member in a wheelchair. As we entered, we were greeted by a crowded space with tables tightly packed together, making it difficult to navigate in a wheelchair. We managed to find a table where we would be least in the way, but unfortunately there were no accessible tables available. Despite the cramped seating, the service at both the bar and table was excellent, with extremely friendly staff. The food was delicious, with a tasty kids pizza, moist hunters chicken, and perfectly cooked steak in a mixed grille with peppercorn sauce. However, the accessibility to the "accessible" toilet was poor, with a door sandwiched between tables and difficult to open and close in a wheelchair. Overall, while the food and service were good, the accessibility issues really impacted our experience. I would recommend this place for cheap and decent food, but not for those in need of accessible facilities.
I stopped in for a quick meal and ordered the steak and ale pudding with chips and gravy. The waiter who brought the drink over just placed it down and walked away. When he later brought the meal over, it was disappointing. It consisted of half a steak pudding, about 30 cold peas, and no gravy. When I mentioned that the pudding didn't look like a full portion, the waiter claimed it had exploded in the microwave. After I informed him that it was supposed to come with gravy, he checked the menu to confirm and then returned with a cold jug of gravy without apologizing. By the time I received the gravy, the peas were already cold. However, the replacement waitress apologized and was pleasant. Overall, the food and service were lacking, and I joke that inmates probably get better presentation in prison.
Food was lovely and staff were very helpful friendly Fire definitely brings a homely feel to the pub! Will definitely be returning
This is our local Weatherspoon and visit most weeks at least once for food and drinks. Always use the app now which works very well. Staff always polite even though sometimes clearly very busy. Food always fast to arrive and piping hot. The fish and chips are excellent and also the steak is very nice. Nothing to moan about at all. Keep it up
Went for lunch husband had fish and chips which he said was good I wanted half chicken with lemon and herbs which was unavailable although it’s promoted on front of menu so decided on chicken bacon and stuffing panini with chips it described being served with cranberry sauce, the sauce was actually on the panini. Very disappointing no bacon, no taste to the stuffing, and cranberry sauce on the panini. The server did ask if everything was alright but I had only has 2 bites so couldn’t have given a virdict.
