Feedback
Kimball's Kitchen, a dining spot in the Outer Banks, offers an intriguing culinary experience that elicits mixed reactions. Guests praise the vibrant cocktails and beautifully presented dishes, notably the Carolina crab soup and seared scallops, complemented by attentive service. However, the restaurant faces criticism for its chaotic atmosphere, inconsistent service, and high prices that some feel don't match the quality, especially during busy holiday periods. While the scenic views and ambiance garner appreciation, diners have expressed disappointment over meal preparation and service lapses. Overall, Kimball's Kitchen remains a noteworthy option, particularly for special occasions, despite its room for improvement.
My meal was unusable. the cale salat was bitter, devastated and hard. the main course was obviously warmer. the cake was bought and if bad quality.
What a miserable experience! My husband just died and so I found myself alone on Thanksgiving. I was treated like a pariah by the staff as if dining alone was somehow a crime. No one would take my order. People seated after me were looked after and chatted with while I was getting the side-eye and no service. I tipped them HUGE just to let them know how much they blew it. I hope they gave it to the kitchen staff bc the food was delish. But the people in the room had no heart for anyone left dining by themselves. Maybe next time you all will be kinder to people venturing out alone bc you don’t know their story. Don’t waste your money.
Came here a couple weeks ago as our ?adults night out? and it was fabulous. The six of us all enjoyed our cocktails and the food was fantastic. Service was stellar and the view from the dining room got better and better as the evening went along. Wouldhighly recommend.
I 'll start by saying I never write reviews like this but our experience last night compelled me to post this one. A huge transformation has taken place at Kimball 's Kitchen a great one. We tried this place about six years ago and the food wassubpar, the service was lackluster, and the atmosphere was stuffy. Combined with the high prices, we vowed never to return. Butlast night our kids wanted to go crabbing at a nearby pier, so my wife and I decided to grab a drink at the bar. The bar anddining room are beautiful Kimball 's has arguably the nicest sound side location in all of OBX. Yet because of our pastexperience, a quick visit and a view of the water was the plan. But as we started to look around, we noticed the entire mood ofthe place was different than before. The room was fun and upbeat. The staff was engaging. The menu was different, and we couldsee from the food being served that the quality was significantly better. We had reservations at Lifesaving Station across thestreet, which the team at Kimball 's kindly helped facilitate, but Steve (Kimball 's manager) introduced himself and said he couldseat us at Kimball 's if we wished. We warned him that our kids would be underdressed arriving in sweatshirts from their crabbingmission. Steve didn 't hesitate. No problem at all, he said. We 'd love to have you. So we decided to give it a go. And weare glad we did. From the very first course we could tell the food was going to be spectacular. It was. Everything wasincredible. Toward the end of the meal I said to Steve as he passed by that our experience was night and day from the last timewe had been there. He appreciated the comment and said that he had been working very hard this season on turning the restaurantinto the great place it has now become. He then sat with us for 15 minutes and regaled us with awesome stories about his 25 yearcareer in the food service industry. What a great guy and talent Sanderling Resort is very lucky to have
