While I was a little hesitant to have a nice family dinner in a restaurant that is a little heavy with the Confederated Flag... I was pleasantly surprised. What a beautiful place to get a beer and food in downtown. (There are no flags inside, fyi) The decor is the upper notch. Some kind of south whiskey bar. Many TVs for sports. The weekend bartenders are sociable and actually want to make your experience there a good one. I had the ribs and thought they were tender and without flavor. I didn't taste any dry rub at all. I came in in Wednesday and the girl behind the bar seemed reluctant to take my order let alone talk to me (I was the only one in the place). I think this place is hit or miss on a good time. Real good service today. Food wad decent just and quick stop between venues.
I was hesitant to have a family lunch at a restaurant that displays the Confederate flag prominently, but I was pleasantly surprised by the experience. The restaurant is a great spot to enjoy a beer and meal downtown, with no flags inside. The décor is excellent, reminiscent of a southern whiskey bar with plenty of TVs for sports fans. The drink selection is basic, but we had no trouble enjoying some domestic beers. The food exceeded my expectations, particularly the Reuben sandwich, which stood out on the menu. I'm looking forward to trying the Cuban sandwich next time.
My experience at the restaurant was not ideal. Despite the busy Saturday night and difficulties with staffing, there were only a few tables in the restaurant. We asked the bartender if we could sit at an open table, which he confirmed with the waitress. However, the waitress ignored us for the 30 minutes we waited at the front table, not even acknowledging our presence. Meanwhile, people who arrived after us at the bar had their orders taken. We left money on the table to cover our drinks and left because we couldn't even get the attention to pay for them. The only positive aspect was the great music playing while we were there.
I visited this restaurant for drinks after a performance at the Five Flags Center in Dubuque. It was a Sunday night and the crowd was larger than expected, as there was only one bartender. However, he did an excellent job of keeping up with the demand.
This was the only cash we could find open after a business function on Tuesday night. there were only a few people at the bar when we arrived.
