Reviews - Token
Reviews summary
Token is a high-energy arcade-bar in Dublin’s Custom House Square that divides opinion: guests praise its buzzy atmosphere, friendly staff and standout dishes like the smash burger and a well-liked vegan bowl, while others flag inconsistency across service and facilities. The arcade and cocktail program deliver the venue’s main draw — games, craft beers and a lively crowd — but reviewers also mention crowded nights, menu items missing from the app, and occasional slow bar service. Cleanliness and facility maintenance (broken machines, restroom issues, cold dining area) were raised repeatedly, making Token feel like a fun, imperfect night out that can be brilliant when the floor and kitchen are firing on all cylinders.

Such a cool place! Love the vibe and the staff are so friendly. Really fun to spend an hour or so in, more if you get food and drinks which we didn't this time. There's not a huge huge variety of games, but the ones they have are great and there's a good mix of solo and duo ones. We got the €20 for 32 tokens deal and by the time we were ready for lunch we still had loads of tokens left so took them home to use another day. Loads of lockers available inside. I'd say the atmosphere is great at night but during the day it's really fun when you don't have to wait for any games and basically have the place to yourself!
Handy to get from town and private rooms for karoke for €40 for 45 min sessions

Had absolutely fabulous service from Whitney. She was so kind and took time to talk us through different cocktail options. Really great experience because of her. Was probably a bit overpriced and quite a few machines were out of order so found it difficult to use all the tokens that came with the meal deal. Food was okay but not outstanding. Good experience and lovely lovely staff. Because of the food/cost/machines I wouldn’t rush back unfortunately.
Token is a great place to go to with friends, family or as a couple. Hell, even if you want to go on your own to play some of the games, I recommend it! Token has a collection of old arcane games, pinball machines, racing games, while also providing excellent food and cocktails. It 's just around the corner from Smithfield, so it is not far from I guess what you could call 'Dublin city centre '. I would say that it suits all occasions from birthdays to first dates, and again, it has so many fun games and tasty bites that it is also great to just pop in on your own after work or college and spend some time taking in the excellent tunes and the fun atmosphere.
The perfect location for lovers of the 80s and the game machines. Wide variety of games and various spaces. Very nice staff. Recommended site to go to play and drink more than to eat.
I wanted to write a review to express my upset at my most recent visit to Token for food on 29 July 23. My partner and I had booked three tables for a group of ~20 of us and the level of disorganisation, poor service, combined with the sheer lack of care from the staff on the floor have led us to feeling most aggrieved from this visit. Many of our party members are regular visitors to this establishment and are aware of the level of service is normally provided; however, several were visiting for the first time and this was not the introduction we wanted for them as we had hyped Token up to them so much! When we arrived (admittedly early for our booking) we were greeted at the door by an unpleasant bouncer who simply barked at us, you have booking? , to which I replied that we did, we had three tables booked for 21:15 this was approximately 21:00. We got moved to the entryway after a few minutes, where we were left standing for an eternity; likely only a few minutes. After these eons of waiting, we were told that the tables were ready this was not the case only one was ready. The smallest of the three we booked which was for four of us. This left the remaining members of our group to stand like lemons in the middle of the floor area completely in the way. After another era had passed, we got another table a six top but we still had the majority of our group left to be seated. Eventually we all had seats. We waited. And waited. And waaaaited to be attended to by the servers. Five minutes passed, ten minutes passed, twenty minutes passed, and, after forty five minutes (and a confirmation from your website that the kitchen would still be open as we still didn 't have menus) had passed we were finally able to get one of the servers to look at us. She asked how she could help and when I told her that we had been waiting nearly an hour and didn 't yet have menus whilst another table that had been seated a mere ten minutes prior had had menus and their order taken the only thing she had to say was, oh . Five minutes later she came back to take our order. In fairness to the kitchen staff, we had our food fairly quickly, however, there were issues there, too. Food arrived cold, there were missing and incorrect items, and there were discrepancies for what we were allowed to order vs what was on the menu. One member of our group wanted to avail of the €5 upgrade to a cocktail that 's clearly on the meal deal section of the menu but she was told that she wasn 't allowed. Another was told that she had to take a tonic with her pink gin even though she wanted 7Up. Yet another ordered a hot dog that didn 't arrive and then when this was questioned, the server brought it for him 7 minutes later with chili that wasn 't ordered, but he was so hungry at this point he just took it and paid the extra for it. The main issue we have with this experience is that we know Token can do better and we would really like to know why this was allowed to happen. Between our three tables they took over €600 between food, tokens, and drinks so it 's not something to be sniffed at, but we will think long and hard before hyping Token up to our friends again. I had hoped to resolve this privately with the establishment, but the offer of free welcome cocktails on our next visit (for my partner and me only) was simply an insulting way for Token to get more money out of us. My querying of this was viewed as “negotiations” by Lukas which it never was, I just wanted to understand why this was allowed to happen and why only my partner and I were being compensated for the mess.
Worst experience ever. As a dedicated vegetarian, I specifically ordered vegan dishes, but unfortunately, a significant mistake occurred. I was served chicken instead of the vegan option I had requested. This mix-up not only violated my dietary choices and beliefs but also had severe consequences for my health. I have been unwell for the past few days as a result of unknowingly consuming animal products. It is a deeply saddening experience that I cannot change. Moreover, during my visit, it became evident that several staff members lacked a clear understanding of the menu. This added to my frustration and raised concerns about the overall competence and professionalism within your restaurant.

Great selection of games.. even though it took a while, it was well worth the wait to play a bit of time crisis 2.. I cant state this enough, the food was incredible .. really liked the design of the place espicially the menus in the old gaming magazines and the bill that came in the ps2 case .. staff were nice and helpful even though it was a busy and packed saturday night.. Would definitely go again..
Easiest 5-Star rating of my life. If you like old-school arcade games, good food (out and in burger and pork tacos were both phenomenal) and good beers, this is for you. Really glad we found this place but slightly bummed I didn’t make it to the record store they also own.
Always have the most amazing time here! Great food, staff are awesome and the games are great craic, especially the dance mat! Easily my favourite bar in Dublin.

Great for the old school player. Not too expensive and really a good selection of old skool games. A bit of a trek to get there from where we were, but it's worth it
Nice food, good selection of beer and cocktails. Service is fast enough and the staff is very nice. The games are also great, perfect place for a date or a meeting with Mates.
It was a fun experience overall but the service was pretty bad. The person who prepared my cocktail seemed clueless about what she was doing and the preparation looked very messy. The cocktail itself wasn't bad, but the service didn't seem that professional to me. Other than that there are so many games to play and it's a nice atmosphere to be in.
