Love above for groups, or the somewhat hidden temples below. I have always visited in a group and there was usually a good selection of other clusters of people around, but that was always in the evening, can not speak the day. View all feedback.
We had a bit of confusion before our visit, as we’d heard that Lord Edward’s was closed, but it turns out that only the restaurant part is shutdown. They did advertise a grilled toast, but unfortunately, it wasn’t available. I had hoped to dine at the well-known Fish and Chips place next door, but it seems the owner doesn’t allow that, which didn’t quite make sense since they had no food to offer. Despite all that, we had a wonderful time. The boys and I are easy to please, but the girls really enjoyed the ginger ale and Jameson. They serve a little bottle of ginger ale that they can mix to their liking, which they loved. The service was fantastic, and we’re likely to return before we leave on Thursday... probably every night!
I popped in while exploring the city, and it turned out to be an incredible traditional Irish pub. The staff were friendly, there was football on the TV, and the pints were fantastic. I ended up staying longer than I originally intended!
While waiting for our flight out of Dublin, we had about an hour to spare, so we decided to check out Lord Edward pub, conveniently located down the street from our hotel and opposite Christ Church Cathedral. The bartender was incredibly friendly and had a great sense of humor, sharing stories and jokes like a true Irishman. We enjoyed our pints of Guinness, which were more affordable than those at many of the more touristy pubs, as we soaked up our last moments in Ireland. I was a little confused about whether they served food, as I didn’t see any menus or a kitchen, so I gathered they didn't. But no worries—one of the best fish and chips places in all of Dublin is just a short walk away.
This pub was recommended by our free walking tour guide as a good, local joint with the cheapest price for a pint of Guinness. At only €4.80 per pint, it 's definitely a win compared to everywhere else that charges 7+. It 's pretty fun watching, and waiting, for the head to form at the top of the glass and the dark Amber color sets in. On a Wednesday night within the period of 3 pints, I noticed many locals come in and either a sit down with their own pints and watch the football game (let 's not be American about it... , or b grab a quick shot and bounce ie. A quick pregame. Either way, the bartender was certainly friendly, the price super fair, and the drink deliciously libatious. There were a few gnats flying around me while sitting at the bar, but it 's whatevs. Don 't let it ruin the experience. I think this is a much better joint than the Temple Bar to partake in some good ol ' Irish drinking. Next door is also a highly reviewed, albeit many on the meh side, fish and chips counter.
I stopped in here for a pint with my friend yesterday and I 'd have to say honestly the barkeep has me dying laughing. My friend asked how his day was and he replied completely schiite! He kept making jokes that were really dark but really funny. Then an old Irishman started singing songs with this girl from North Carolina. It was hilarious. The Guinness was pretty good as well. It is a proper old Irish pub with great pints in a part of town that has somewhat been taken over by new bars. This pub gets five stars for week poured Guinness and free entertainment!
