Contribute FeedbackMao restaurant seems to have lost its touch, as customers complain of flavorless dishes and shrinking portion sizes. The Green Chicken Curry lacked its signature color and Thai flavors, while the black pepper beef was disappointing. Some patrons have noticed a decrease in portion sizes, feeling cheated out of their money. Late deliveries and dry, unappetizing food have left a bad taste in customers' mouths. On the contrary, some positive reviews praised the Nasi Goreng, Black Pepper Beef, and Hong Kong Chicken for their amazing taste and friendly service. Mixed reviews suggest Mao's inconsistency in quality and portion sizes.
Mao just isn't what it used to be. Flavourless in the main. Black pepper beef had no black pepper flavour whatsoever and the noodles were in the main box with the beef meaning you get less beef, less noodles, less everything. Green chicken curry didn't have its signature green colour from the green chili's that should be used, it was more of a grey colour and couldn't taste authentic Thai flavours at all. Its really disappointing for almost 30 euro you can't get 2 decent meals. Won't be using again. It's not rocket science just cook tasty food you're getting top dollar for it.
We have been ordering from this restaurant for the past few weeks and the food is fantastic. However, the service is subpar and when it comes to delivery, charging a premium of €4.50 you would expect top-notch service. Unfortunately, this is not the case. If there are any issues with the order, customers should be informed. The excuse of being "five minutes away" is not acceptable, especially when it is not true. Overall, we have very little confidence in the performance of this takeaway. The service is very poor.
I was greeted with not much more than a grunt from the staff, I asked about drinks and I wasn’t answered, the staff member just pointed to the drink wall. When my food was ready the staff member made eye contact but did not say a word , not even a thank you. I was not asked about payment just had the card machine moved towards me, I was not told the price etc.The food is lovely but I must say, after working with the public I’m aware that it’s very easy to be nice.
I have been eating food here for years and he quality is great though the portions have halved in size over the last year or so. Recently I bought a main dish for €14 and the main came in a small rice container! I used to always have some left for a small snack the following day but now there is barely enough for the main meal. Come on, don't be cheating the customer. Give them what they are paying for. Don't be scabby. The other Mao franchises put the the mains in the full size container. I thought the whole idea of a franchise is that there is consistency between-all the restaurants??? I brought it to the attention of the manager before and they said I was correct that they give smaller portions sizes here though said there was nothing they could do about it.
We got takeout from Mao Tallaght consisting of Singapore Noodles, Ribs, and Beef Duck Chow Mein. While the food was tasty, we found the portion sizes to be smaller compared to other Chinese takeout places. My teenage children were still hungry after the meal, but we all agreed that the quality of the food was good.
