You really do not need the round town tourist bus! We took the tram out of town and got off at the castles. Not a lot to do by midafternoon, we had missed the guided tour of Lingner Castle at but the view over the Elbe and the distant city are marvellous. And then were just read for a nice hot drink and some cakes, so greatly pleased to find this open tearoom. Excellent cakes and a good range of teas. Plus a rather interesting and important glass chandelier. Ask the staff..
We came without a reservation and got the last unbooked table. Great view across the Elbe valley and part of Dresden. And even greater food which was worth waiting freshly prepared food needs its time. Friendly staff and a very pleasant international atmosphere. We’ll be...back
It was a sunny balmy evening, a perfect setting for celebrating our wedding anniversary in a beautiful castle overlooking the Elbe and Dresden. Sadly the atmosphere was spoiled by a terrible service of unskilled servers. Serving my wife last her glass, waiting minutes before...being able to order something to drink and waiting a further minutes... to be served a salad. Sigh
Visiting Dresden for a conference at the beginning of september I had some time to explore the city on my own. It was my first encounter with the former Eastern European city that suffered much during WW II. I went to the Lingner Terassen...to have a dinner with a big international group. I walked on a sunnu day from the old town to the venue: a very pleasant excercise at the side of the river Elbe. Unfortunately the gate in the wall wit stairs leading through the vineyard going up to the terrassen, was locked, so I had to walk around through the forest, but that was also a very interesting walk. We came all togehter on the terrasse, were offered a glass of German champagne and enjoyed the view over the river and Dresden on the other riverbank. We took our time to take some groupphoto's on the stairs on the terrace. We had dinner in buffetstyle, and the food was excellent in quality, as were the wines and the friendly staff. At the end of the dinner, fireworks were lit at the castle of the neighbours: an excellent way to end our evening at this lovely place
It's a pleasant place for dinner on a great warm summer night, the beer garden with some easy food or the restaurant with for me, too heavy German Saxon food. If the trees would be not there towards Dresden, yes I give the place
