Nestled in Newcastle, this restaurant elicits diverse reactions from patrons. While some praise the cozy atmosphere, attentive service, and delicious fare like steak sandwiches and fish and chips, others express discontent over unpleasant encounters and subpar food quality. Many visitors appreciate the friendly staff and reasonable prices, particularly noting the inviting ambiance for family meals. However, concerns about cleanliness and a few unwelcoming incidents have raised red flags for some. Overall, this establishment possesses potential as a local gem, yet consistency in food quality and a more welcoming environment could enhance its reputation among tourists and locals alike.

What Маргарита Петренко dislikes about Diamond Pats:
Visited here for a drink on Easter Sunday. Have been here before for food and drinks but will never be back. Music being provided by Stephen Rafferty. Pro ira music being sang and pro ira chants being sang by customers. No attempt by bar staff...to stop same. Never ever felt as intimidated. Disgusting. Will be referring same to the tourist board. Stay away. Not a welcoming environment for tourists. View all feedback.
Here stopped having dinner with my wife and were warmly welcomed and offered a table by a great kamin, which was very appreciated on a cold day. the turkey and the ham was delicious and the chicken cure was very delicious. friendly personal and reasonable prices mean...I would eat here definitiw again. many thanks for their hospitality and banishment.
We arrived at this restaurant after a rainy visit to the morning with Canadian visitors. We came in here to escape the rain and desperately search for a drink, as the doors had just opened. We were the first customers. There was a strong smell from the kitchen, but I suppose most pubs have that smell before they get busy. We went ahead and ordered as other customers began to arrive. The food was well presented, with all 5 meals served together and hot. We had a selection of bratwurst, American chicken burgers, steak sandwiches, and a kids' burger. All of the portions were huge, delicious, and very affordable. The only thing I would suggest improving is the bathrooms, they could use a bit of refurbishing. Our visit was quiet during the week, but it seemed like things could get a bit wild on the weekends. The staff was very friendly and helpful when we asked for the menu.
A few friends and I were in the city and decided to find a place for an early dinner. We stumbled upon this restaurant with a solid menu and decided to give it a try. We were pleasantly surprised. The restaurant had a cozy pub-like atmosphere that seemed to get very busy in the evenings with locals enjoying a pint and a game of darts. We were seated by the window facing the street, which was fine with us. The service was friendly and efficient, despite us not being locals. The menu had a good variety of items, including vegetarian options. I must say, the fish and chips were the best I've had in Newcastle, even compared to fancier restaurants I've tried. The service remained consistently great throughout our meal. This place is truly a hidden gem.

This place has changed its name to mariner's. Our first visit , were given a seat upstairs at the window with views of the sea and the Mourne mountain which was lovely. I had fish and chips , batter bit overdone.George had chicken gugions. Would probably come back but ask for batter to be lighter done. Staff very friendly.
