Percy French has the look and feel of an old golf club house, timber frames on the... read more A fantastic restaurant/bar located in the grounds of The Sleive Donard Hotel. Percy French has the look and feel of an old golf club house, timber frames on the ceiling, tv with sports on and a good range of traditional beers. We decided to visit Percy French after a long walk on Newcastle promenade mainly because of it's outside, dog friendly seating area. There's around 10 tables outside with a few covered tables at the front of the building. We only popped in for one drink but it was very nice and the atmosphere was great. There was large groups of families inside and the staff were extremely welcoming. There's also free wifi which is extremely important in the signal black spot that is Newcastle. I'd love to go back and try the food which looked sublime!

It's a lovely restaurant with gorgeous views, attentive staff, and good food. I had the half roast chicken with champ and gravy, and served with a side of vegetables, which was broccolini and Snap peas. Others at the table got steak, burgers and fish and chips. I thought my food was good and especially enjoyed the champ and gravy. Everyone else said they enjoyed their meal as well. Overall it was about what I expected for a meal out on vacation in N Ireland; a bit pricey for good quality food in a lovely location. I would eat here again based on my experience.
