We pitched up in Douvres on a Thursday night at the end of October not much open, and our first choice, Le Petit Flaubert, was booked out for a function. The Flaubert's owners recommended we came here instead, and it was fine advice. Although it has a slightly sanitised, over lit ambience, the welcome was warm from the owners, who spoke some English and were also friendly and patient with rudimentary French speakers.... What Maybelle Haley doesn't like about Le Pressoir:
We called into here after another day of visiting the museums of the D Day landings. The food was excellent and the beers flowed down a treat. We enjoyed ourselves so much we were there well past the closing time of the restaurant. The owners made us most welcome and we would have visited again had we been staying in the area any longer.
Each year as we head back to the boat we stop off for lunch in Le Pressoir before heading for the 6pm boat in Cherbourg. We were a bit disappointed, as there was no lunch as such, just an a la carte. So, we ordered the magret de canard and a camembert salad. They were both just superb. I had the creme brûlée as I have in the past and it is still the biggest I have ever been served in France. Overall a wonderful experience , yet again. Parking is great as there is an area for cars just outside the door.
Called in here for lunch after a horrible visit to Caen, what a refreshing find, real France at its best. Very friendly staff (did have a bit of trouble with my limited french but we had a lovely lunch .Moules extra nice : Sat outside watching the world go by in this lovely little village. Excellent

The Flaubert's owners recommended we came here instead, and it was fine advice. Although it has a slightly sanitised, over lit ambience, the welcome was warm from the owners, who spoke some English and were also friendly and patient with rudimentary French speakers. The food was notably good and affordably priced buckwheat pancakes on offer, filled with everything from steak hache to local cheeses; the highlight for me a mixed grill of lamb, steak and tripe sausage...a memorable plateful.
