Contribute FeedbackIl Toscano in Douglaston serves up delicious Italian cuisine, but recent reviews highlight some inconsistencies. Some customers experienced long wait times, lack of attention from staff, and high prices. However, loyal patrons praise the quality of the food, especially the famous Napoleon dessert. The service can be hit or miss, with some diners impressed by attentive waitstaff, while others mention issues with freshness of certain dishes. Overall, the cozy atmosphere, varied wine selection, and friendly service make this spot a favorite for many, despite occasional disappointments.
We started with a lasagne “for the table”, because why not? it is a very good, classic cheesy and saucy lasagna. the perfect start to a “light” meal. we also had the spedini special that she described as an Italian grilled cheese with pears. it was really good and much better than it sounds. the birne offers exactly the right amount of sweet. for dinner I had the lobster special, which is essentially lobster over linguini. it's so good, I get it every time I go. it is even better that I discovered that they take the lobster out of the dish, so there is nothing to slow me down. we had also advised the semolina jumbo shrimp. they were very tasty. great taste and only the correct amount of crust. Finally, for dessert a tartufo and napoleon were the perfect finishing touch. a delicious Italian cuisine. I recommend il toscano.
We came here to celebrate the 80th birthday of my father. we made it a lunch party, so we could get the whole restaurant ourselves. the owner, the manager and the staff were all top notch. super friendly and fantastic service. eating was also excellent, all from salad, to start and main course. even a napoleon cake with the happy birthday message on it. I'm generally not dessert, but you napoleon makes me one. all in all, the experience was great. my parents and guests all had a great time and really enjoyed the meal. many thanks to all employees in il toscano.
Perfectly executed Italian eating in douglaston. the hotel is located quite literally next to the railway station. So if they come out of town and don't want to drive, it's a great location.
Wow....what a meal..... Just fantastic.... You have to experience this level of service and quality of the food that we experienced..... There is lots to love here.....
Local neighborhood gem. Everyone knows this place and the food is just quality eats. Wait staff is very hospitable and so is the cozy seating. Next to the Douglaston LIRR station, you can't miss it. Excellent food, run to get the foie gras while you still can. And try the lasagna, it's really a great dish.
