Shoney's - Dothan
Shoney's
Description
Shoney’s in Dothan offers a nostalgic, affordable dining experience with friendly, attentive staff that makes guests feel at home. The restaurant’s breakfast and seafood bars receive mixed feedback—while many praise the grits and overall buffet selection, others note limited variety and inconsistencies in food quality, including overcooked entrees and items that seem pre-prepared. Service can be polite but sometimes slow, impacting the dining pace. The atmosphere is generally pleasant and uncrowded, although some have expressed concern over distractions among staff. With some kitchen and interior improvements, Shoney’s could better fulfill the loyal customers’ desire for a reliable, enjoyable meal.

Place is usually extremely busy on the weekend. Sometimes you have to wait to be seated. Food items are hot and delicious. Sometimes they run out and you gotta wait. Waitress was okay
The only reason I gave it a 2 was because our server was great. My husband had a medical procedure done that morning and had not eaten in 24 hours so he was hungry and chose this place even though he had not been there. He ordered fried shrimp and fries, Iordered blackened salmon with steamed veggies. My salmon if it was that was severely over cooked and my husband's shrimp tastedlike it had been thawed and refrozen. Food was disgusting. Our booth was by the service line and I witnessed the man that Iassume was the manager popping female employees on the butt with a towel. This place should not be open.
Not much choice on the buffet is my only complaint. Maybe it was the time of day we came in but there was only two meats on the bar. Fried chicken and grilled chicken. Our waitress was very polite however.
Kathie was our waitress I think that was here name. She was awesome. Very attentive. They couldn't keep the bar full for the crowd. Everything else was great.
