What erichD8344HU doesn't like about The Black Swan:
This was the worst Sunday lunch I have ever had. The Brussel sprouts were completely uncooked, the Yorkshire puddings were reheated to the point of being impossible to cut through, and the roast potatoes and carrots were frozen and canned, respectively. The gammon was overly salty. To make matters worse, there were numerous flies buzzing around and landing on the food as we ate. On a positive note, the staff was frie... View all feedback.
We stumbled upon this restaurant by chance and were glad we did. The food was delicious, well-cooked, and plentiful. We especially enjoyed the 'proper' pie with a lovely shortcrust pastry. The cozy atmosphere with a welcoming coal fire, excellent beer selection, and polite and friendly staff made for a great experience. This old-fashioned village pub has won us over and we will definitely be returning.
Had a great dinner here good quality, generous helpings, friendly service and all by a warm fire. Perfect for a winter's evening.
We popped in on our way past for a few drinks, they weren't doing food that evening but said we could go to the chip shop and eat them in there. The staff were very friendly and there were quite a few locals chatting, drinking and playing darts. We will be back another time for Sunday lunch.

The gammon was overly salty. To make matters worse, there were numerous flies buzzing around and landing on the food as we ate. On a positive note, the staff was friendly, but we were the only customers dining at the time - now I understand why. I definitely will not be returning to this restaurant and would recommend avoiding it altogether.
