Kate's is a Dodge City institution. Been in business for many years. The original owners sold out, and it was closed for 6 or 7 months. Recently reopened. The food is not exactly like it was, but close enough to still deserve being called Kate's.
The new owners are doing a great job of keeping a local favorite going. The food is good and the beer is cold!
This is a great local spot to hang out, and I highly recommend it if you're looking to escape the typical chain restaurants. Just keep in mind that it's primarily a bar, so it might not be suitable for kids. While the food isn't exceptional, it's typical for a local dive bar. They offer beer and Pepsi for drinks. The wait staff is super friendly, and the locals are open to chatting with newcomers.
Great BLT! Crispy fries, sweet people and Great service! This should be on Diners, Drive Ins and Dives. Check it out!
I decided to go with their BLT and onion rings. I would say the BLT was a bit subpar, while the onion rings were good. My waitress was very attentive and smiling and pleasant.
