Fundy Restaurant - Digby
Fundy Restaurant
Description
Located on the boardwalk, this restaurant offers a relaxing atmosphere with great views. Despite some disappointing dishes, such as overcooked seafood linguine and a poor New York steak, there are highlights such as delicious lobster chowder and scrumptious scallop rolls. The friendly staff and beautiful waterfront setting add to the overall experience. The portion sizes may be small and prices high, but the timely service and daily dessert offering are definite positives. The seafood sampler and seafood lasagna are standout dishes that showcase the restaurant's potential for delivering exceptional seafood. Overall, a decent dining option in Digby.

We came to this restaurant specifically for the Digby scallops. We were seated in an area where we could see the porch and the water. The scallops were pan-fried to perfection and accompanied by delicious veggies. The restaurant also offers sushi from Thursdays to Sundays, but I would only suggest ordering it if you are really in the mood for Japanese food. The servers were very friendly and willing to answer any questions we had.
The atmosphere was unsettling. The customers were very old-fashioned and unexciting. After being seated, no one came to my table for ten minutes. I decided to leave.
Despite the friendly and usually efficient servers, we were overall disappointed with our dining experiences at this restaurant. The food was not great and overpriced, leading us to consider giving it a one star review. For example, during one dinner on a beautiful outdoor patio overlooking the sea, we ordered a scallop and shrimp stir-fry for $28, which turned out to be three shrimp and three scallops placed on top of vegetables rather than stir-fried. Another dish, the scallop dinner for $38, had six scallops that were tasty but expensive. The clam chowder, priced at $10, was thick like a stew and lacked flavor. During a lunch at another restaurant in the same complex with the same menu options, we were disappointed with a dry chicken fingers and crabapple pecan salad. Even at breakfast inside, we had to endure overcooked eggs, though the coffee was good. While we appreciated the servers, ultimately, good food is essential for a restaurant to earn a higher ranking on our list.
We had high expectations for this restaurant. We went to celebrate the 52nd birthday of my wife. We were seated right away. The place was only about half full. I ordered the baked haddock and my wife ordered the seafood stir fry. We noticed other tables around us were getting what looked like yeast rolls. Even the table right next to us. We never received any bread because the waitress never came back for us to inquire about bread. When she did come back she had the stir fry my wife ordered and some fish dish I did not order. She said oh right you ordered the baked fish. She left to go get what I ordered. My wife began to slowly eat her entree while I waited for mine. Anyway my wife had finished her meal before mine ever showed up. When you go out for a special occasion you would like to eat together. When my food did arrive the waitress half heartedly apologized. The food was as good but we got to take turns watching each other eat. They had a nice picture on the table showing a blueberry shortcake. What we actually received was a bit different. The cake was bland and hard. I wish we had a better experience on a special night.
