Maharaja - Dieppe
Maharaja
Description
The Maharaja restaurant in Dieppe offers a mix of reviews, from glowing recommendations to some more critical feedback. While some customers praise the delicious and authentic Indian food, others were disappointed with the limited menu and lack of atmosphere. The lunch combo 4 is highly recommended, along with the lamb curry, samosas, and naan bread. The vegan and gluten-free options are appreciated by many patrons. Despite the mixed reviews, Maharaja seems to be a hidden gem for those looking for home-cooked Indian cuisine at an affordable price and is worth a visit for those in Moncton/Dieppe.

Without a doubt, this is the best Indian food in the Moncton area! It truly tastes like a dish you would find in India. The prices are fantastic, and the customer service is excellent!
If you want a truly home style meal head over to Maharaja. It's hidden in a house on a tiny side street, the living room turned into a restaurant. But the food is delicious. The restaurant has a limited menu featuring items from South Indian cuisine. The idli, or masala dosa, which is great. There are also staples of Indian cuisine but with a twist: pakodas and samosas, for instance. We also tried mutter paneer, peas in spicy sauce with chunks of cheese. Exquisitely spiced. The reason I am giving it four not five stars is that I ordered naan, instead of rice for my mutter paneer, and the naan is just not up to the par. Had I skipped the naan and ordered rice, I probably would have give the place five stars. It's a great hole in the wall, with carefully prepared food, cooked literally at home. I appreciated that the spice level was not dummed down.
I tried this place for the first time tonight, and I can’t wait to come back! It was outstanding! Their samosas and butter chicken are absolutely amazing!
I'd consider this the best Indian in town. A small place in a location you wouldn't expect but it's well worth the stop. Despite its size I've never had an issue getting a seat or picking up takeout. They're meals are always consistently delicious and after you don't have that heavy feeling compared to some other Indian dishes which have a lot of creams. My go to meal is always mutter paneer and dal curry, and if I need that little extra the chana masala to top me off. The meals do have a little spice but it's the perfect amount. The masala dosa is also a great dish which is a sort of potato stuff in a light crepe and probably the only place in town you can find it. The prices are very reasonable and I highly recommend trying it out.
